In the past Excel has had a button for a single underline
and a button for double underline. Since going to Office
XP, the buttons do not work the same, the only way to
change a single underline to a double underline is to go
through formatting. So much for a short cut button. Has
anyone else had this problem? I really do not want to
write macros to make buttons work that should already work.

It was a bug - It works OK for me now but I do have 2003 installed as well, and
I'm not sure whether it's a result of that or whether one of the service packs
fixed it I'm afraid. Maybe one of the others remembers.

It's a bug.

Here's a thread that suggests a workaround.

Dave/Ken

My XL2002 no longer troubled by this bug.

I have installed FP2003 and Publisher2003. Either of them could have swatted
the bug.

I don't have either of those installed, but do have Excel 2003, and it is now
fixed in both 2002 and 2003.

I just tried it again.

I could have sworn it was still broken, but it worked ok for me in
xl2002 (10.4524.4219) SP-2.

But it's probably my memory that's broken.

By the way, I don't have FP or publisher installed. So I'd bet it was a SR that
fixed it.

Hmm. Maybe that's when I tested it.
