Greetings -

Noticed that Win2k has a command line telnet interface rather than
GUI......Anyone have a clue as to how to pass commands to automate login.

Regards -

Jeff

I don't know if this helps, but the Hyperterminal that comes with
Win2K can also do Telnet.

Replace "W" with "L" in email.

Can you advise how to call the HyperTerminal session via batch. The deal is
that I'm creating an intranet site with links to our routers and switches.
What I would like to do since I don't know much about html is have links to
batch files that would open telnet sessions to the respected router or
switch. Is this possible via HyperTerminal or Win2k Telnet?

Thanks in advance -

Jeff

As far as I know, the stock Win2K telnet.exe does not support simple
redirection of standard input and output to pass commands and capture
results (feel free to prove me wrong!), does not support URL notation
for connection per RFC1738
(telnet://<user>:<password>@<host>:<port>/), and does not have any
command-line options beyond host and port.

If you *must* use this client, a previous poster suggested the
external scripting package "AutoIt" (see "Telnet in Batch, 2/12").
http://www.hiddensoft.com/AutoIt/ A similar option would be the
enhanced scripting language KixStart, deleveloped by Microsoft Benelux
but unsupported. http://www.kixstart.org

if you gotta go with a third party tool, might as well choose the right one.
Hard to go wrong with netcat (win32), for network messaging via a command
line.

You're not wrong; you're miserably, impossibly, and totally right.
