Brand new to forums so be patient.

I have a piece of test equipment with an RS232 data output (data send
is controlled by the said equipment).

There is commercially available software that does this and imports it
neatly into a database (I Have tried the demo therefore the connection
is good) but this is far too expensive and far to complicated a
database for my needs.

Just want to get the data into a spreadsheet, I can do the rest.

Platform = XP Home & NT4
Excel = 2002
Port = COM 2

Info from Equipment manual
Baud rate = 1200
Start Bits = 1
Stop Bits = 2
data Bits = 8
No Parity

So if anyone can assist me in creating a macro or writing a peice of VB
code to do the job, I would be gratful

Mike

Hi Mike,
With Excel you need an Active-X control to control the comport.
There is some good info and a control here.
