Out of the blue Norton Ghost is giving me an Error 25003 "Could not
fit translated attributes into buffer size" error when trying to back
up my NTFS boot disk.

The information available suggests this is due to MFT fragmentation,
or
possible MFT corruption. The drive has been freshly degragmented and
I can
find no evidence of corruption or any other problem.

Has anyone seen this issue and have a suggestion to fix it? MOBO is a
Abit KD7-RAID (but not using RAID), nothing has changed.
Thanks in Advance
Nigel

When I encountered this error trying to clone an NTFS volume, I ran a live
update of Ghost 2003, I defraged the drive, and I ran CHKDSK -- all failed
to correct the error. Then I noticed one of the System Restore files
created by XP had grown to 320 MB spanning 5000 fragments. For some reason,
defrag does not coalesce this space. I turned off System Restore to delete
the file plus a number of others. Now I can clone the volume.
