I just looked and I have 249 blocked newsgroup senders, mostly from this
board. Does anyone exceed the size of my list? I know a lot of them are
fake emails people used.

I wish I had not posted this list. However it does speak about how this
board is pretty much worthless to me. Between those posting things that do
not belong or do not belong as composed and those responding to them this
board is pretty much no longer about anything useful. Do I see this as a
problem with just the bicycle, hiker, environmentalists? no. It is a
problem at large in US society about how shouting your opinion or attacking
what you see as the enemy is considered the best way to get your point
across.

The sad part is how much damage one psycho such as Vandeman can do to
degrade the civility of the discourse.

alt.rec.recumbents has such a person. Not only are his posts way way off
topic (standard right-wing dogma) he constantly calls people filthy names,
anyone who disagrees with him idiots, etc. etc. The laugh is he declares it
all in good fun, and that it is entertainment. People are already giving up
the once rapidly growing group.

Does the guy even have a recumbent? I have test ridden one and did like it
and assume I will have one some day. recumbents are cool for a lot of
stuff, but being one of those folks that like to climb standing, I even like
heading into headwins standing, a recumbent is not for me, yet.

It helps to have a newsreader that can block entire threads. That way, you
only need to killfile the trolls, and all the noise they stir up is gone.

I have two and owned a Trek R200 (yuck!). If you are a racing cyclist,
ensure you try a racing bent. The degree you like bents has to do with
numerous factors. If your area is flat, windy, cold, suburban or rural, and
you are uncomfortable on a regular bike and can pedal a regular bike over 18
MPH - bents rule. Otherwise, the rewards dwindle.
