We're planning a trip to Cozumel at the end of March and are debating
between the Paradisus Cozumel (formerly the Melia) and the Allegro
Cozumel (formerly the Diamond). Both look like good resorts and the
cost for an all-inclusive package for the dates we are looking at is
nearly identical. Here's what our priorities are:

1. A great beach and/or great pools - It's mostly a lay by the
beach/pool sort of trip for us so that's a big priority.
2. Good/clean/modern rooms
3. Good food - We're only going to be there three days so it doesn't
have to be a lot of variety.
3. Great views - I'm sure that's pretty much everywhere in Cozumel
though...
4. Fairly close to the downtown/nightlife - I think the Paradisus
might be better in this regard right?

If anyone has any comments that would be great. I think I've look at
pretty much all of the other all-inclusives and narrowed it down to
these two but if I'm missing one, feel free to mention that too.
Thanks!

I've only been to the Allegro, so the following are comments about it.

Nice beach but there is a small port next door for diving and
snorkelling tour boats taht care ccomingcc cand going all day. Pools
are very nice.

Yes wit hteh exception of upstairs rooms in the bungalows, they have
grass roofs that can elak in heavy rainstorms, at least ours did.

Yes, not gourmet but acceptable.

Great sunsets.

Allegro is a 20+ minute taxi ride from downtown.
