I got the following note today from the Solaris/x86 Video Driver team and
figured I'd pass it on since so many people here have used them:

The free public download XFree86 Video Driver Kit for Solaris 8 Intel
has been updated to XFree86 Version 4.20 drivers.
This kit provides additional video device drivers for any
Solaris 8 Intel customer. Please share with support staff and
others who have an interest.

Thanks for that Alan,

For the first time ever I've now got a usable X display on my laptop
(Inspiron 8000 Nvidia GEOFORCE2GO) using the VESA driver. The VESA driver
didn't work for me in 4.10.

Howether the highest res I can get is 1280x1024 (better than 640x480x8 I had
previously) I think this is something to do with all the 1600x1200 setting
wanting to use interlaced. I had a look for XF86Config to try and tweak the
monitors section though it doesn't appear to exist.

Does anyone know what this equates to with the porting kit?

Thanks

Mark

I found a README with a bit of info. Apparently config info is stored in
/etc/openwin/server/etc/OWconfig
by default you don't need a XF86Config file though the existance of one in
/etc/X11 over rides the settingd in OWconfig.

Now to try and get it working.

Any chance your modifications will make it back into the XFree86 source
tree?
