For a couple years I've been thinking. How can frog be in the
center of so much abuse and never lose his account? His upstream
provider must see a massive amount of complaints. If nothing
else were considered, the X-Remailer-Contact abuse is clearly a
violation to any decent provider. How could a provider allow
this to continue? Frog acts as though he is king of the world.
No amount of abuse. No amount of complaints can affect frog's
conduct, except to make it worse. Frog swaggers from
confrontation to confrontation. Frog is a man who believes he is
invincible.

Now, we have a newly started french remailer--nowwhat--and the
operator bows out because of valid legal concerns. From his
statements it is easy to see his position and understand.
Bluejay has been telling us that running a remailer in france is
dangerous. His evaluation has been correct and now proven by a
french remailer operator.

Has frog ever shown the slightest fear of bad consequences of
running a remailer? We see know that keeping logs is a very
sticky point for nowwhat admin. He felt compelled to have them.
Has frog ever shown the slightest fear of bad consequences of
not keeping logs?

It is impossible for a man to be party to such abuse as we have
seen in the last 4 years, and not lose his account. Frog is
working for someone very important. He acts untouchable.

collated to use against users or worse still, provide to TLA's/Government's.

Those who wish to remain in denial about Frog's guilt are going to get a
very nasty shock I feel. We were warned about Frog and it now looks like
those warnings are indeed coming true.

Frog is most definitely NOT to be trusted.

I now consider Frog to be the enemy.

Is there a list of "good", "bad", and "unknown" remailers somewhere? I
do not want to use one of the CIA "plants".

(I haven't tried remailing, but BlueJay's recent re-documentation of QS
has made me curious.)

There is no way to know with any certainty about the trustworthiness of
all remailers. Read the Remop Archive and get a feel for which remops
in there you would trust, and which you would not trust.

You have to pay attention and read the evidence against those remailers
which are playing too many games in regard to filtering, logging and
hanging onto mail for extended periods.

When you post to Usenet, you must chain at *least* three times.
However, with some of the nonsense happening lately, where Frog and his
friends seem to be endeavouring to sneak in "hidden" remailers run by
themselves, I think you need a chain of at least 4 remailers, just in
case bastard like Frog ever attain the magic number of 3 compromised
remailers. Doing this, they could easily follow any unlucky posts in
and out of their 3 boxes. A chain of four would foul this up.

Random "luck" alone would have many going through those very 3
remailers.

Suspect remailers whose stats show they have only slight latency rates.
I believe Frog claims a latency of about 16 seconds. That's ludicrous
for the retaining of secrecy. The less the latency, the more likely
those villians who have snuck in 2-3 compromised remailers could follow
your mail in and out. Newbies love those with a very low latency. Avoid
them!

ALWAYS assume that your Usenet posts are going through a set of
compromised remailers. Act accordingly. Do not post anything that you
would not want your real name attached to.

ALWAYS PGP encode your e-mail. *Always*. If some friend of yours
absolutely will not install PGP on his machine, keep your e-mails from
containing anything you would not want the entire world to know,
because corrupt re-mopes like Frog and congo will publish your message.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Congo bitch and Frog
trade information when possible as to certain posts. Seeking to find
some correlation between the input, middle and exit. Never use them.
Delete their keys. (In QuickSilver you use the "Bar remailer" menu.)

Remember, the entry remailer knows everything about you that your ISP
knows. Your IP number, your e-mail address, your ISP's SMTP machine
(That is why I use an outside SMTP service). When you turn on your full
headers and them from one of your own posts which was not sent through
a remailer, that is what the entry remailer knows about you.

There's more, but these tips should suffice for now. Pay attention in
this group and the Remop Archive.

Then use your own judgement. But you better have *good* judgement.

Oh, yeah - as far as knowing which remailers some TLA (three letter
agency) might be running, there is no way of knowing this. Just pay
attention to those who know what they are doing in apas and don't
anguish over deleting remailer keys of those suspected of shenanigans.
There are about 50 remailers. Even is a handful are dirty, you have
plenty left to use.

decisive steps to remove him (other than flooding his upstream with abuse)
they could.

But what would you actually achieve in doing that ? Just satisfy the Bluejay's
of this world? The Gieldas ? The NANAUs ?

I think I understand the problem and people don't like Frog's attitude which
is I would admit somewhat troll like, there is more than a distinct possibilty
that most/some of the anon floods and aggressive posts are from Frog, but so
what ?

You have to understand the world would not be a better place without Frog.
It would be a far worse world on balance. A world where rules and straight
laced US netcops are the most powerful forces on the internet. Where there
are less 'alternatives', less choice. Frog runs a rock solid remailer with
low latency and from headers with a remarkable history of outstanding uptime
and it's based in a Bush critical country (very important in these dark times)
It is a great thing that it exists.

Also I tend to err with Frog on the pro-Cypherpunk/nostalgia side. No doubt
Len Sassaman and Peter Palfrader are doing great things with the new Mixminion
but I don't actually 'like' the look of it. It is cold, it personality-less.
There is no reason I can see that anon posting should be so cold. Frog obviously
has serious issues with the way the developments are happening, and people
droping cpunk support in favour of Mix, and QS etc. Frog seems to have invested
a lot time in Reliable and JBN info. And no not all of Frogs info is good or
useful. * Some is terribly written and misleading but it exists and more importantly
his remailer exists.

Taking him off line because of his 'crimes';floods, flames, anti QS, anti Palfrader,
whatever is just not justification at all. It just a witch hunt it is no wonder
Frog is often forced into a corner to scream Xenophobia at it all.

Elaborate conspiracy theories about Frog and the French government are just
Average Joe fodder.

You can not. That is why you "use" more than one. Your only other
alternative is to run one yourself, and even that is open to being
exploited or compromised.

There's all sorts of "lists" and "opinions" centering around specific
remailers or groups thereof. Each and every one of them rendered
meaningless by the design of the remailer network itself. If you're using
it properly, and assuming all/most remailers aren't CIA plants, a true CIA
plant would be an essentially useless waste of CIA resources.

Flip a coin and pick a software... Neither QS nor JBN is particularly
intuitive. The remailer network itself isn't intuitive. QS appears to be
easier to set up than JBN, but JBN facilitates more control. Then again,
even "opinions" on these simple points vary. Try them both. Either one used
properly is likely to be as secure as the other. The weakest link in the
whole process is the user. Period.

Frog's stats are horseshit! Frog was totally down for two weeks a while
back and according to his stats his was still number 1. Ha!

Many other remailers have an outstanding record of uptime. Matter of
fact, Frog's record of that is not quite good at all. His machine has
went down many times, and some little old French broad had to throw a
switch to get it back up. On top of that, he's changed ISPs a number of
times and was down each time for quite a while. So don't give me this
shit about his exemplary record of up time.

Frog has spent a lot of time screwing around with Reliable in an effor
to get it to compromise the secrecy and privacy of his remailer users.

Frog likes Cypherpunk because Mixmaster, among other things, will not
allow him to log. As "nowwhat's" remop stated, in France you better
damn well log or you could find yourself in very deep doo-doo with the

That's only one reason Frog does not like Mixmaster. The other reason

"editorializing" (which occasionally looses an important point about
Frog - because you so overstate your disdain) does not take away
from the significant value of your analysis.

FWIW, your -important- warnings about Frog would be read and heeded more if
they didn't have all of the excessive expletives - readers presume that they are
simply personal brickbats (and not the legitimate warnings that you offer).

I think we all have to realize that bluejay is bluejay. He's
going to tell it the way he sees it. What we can do to help is
support him. We can all see that he does not respond to calls
for less 'acidic' posts. We have all also seen that no one else
has able to take the heat for so long. Let's support him by not
asking/telling him to change but instead followup with
supportive posts with language we feel appropriate. That will
show new members that no matter Bluejay's style, he is respected
here. And we know for a fact Bluejay is respected.

The need for frog to continuously react/respond to Bluejays
statements is both a drain on frog's time and his energy. There
is no better way to handle frog than to simply make him wish he
had never started this futile remailer network takeover. I
believe he feels that way right now. I wonder how he'll feel in
another 6 mos or year.

I particularly like your last paragraph. Lets keep statements
like that coming for Bluejay. He is working for the remailer
networks betterment. I know it helps him to no we care.

I did not *attack* gays. I told the truth of what they are and the
rupugnance that any normally healthy person feels about their unhealthy
habits. For instance, their influence as a voting block was responsible
for the reopening of the "bathhouses" in San Francisco, despite the

Your statement above is not 100% correct. I realize that you were
trying to correct the original poster's impression that Mixminion
was a pure Len/Peter creation, but it is false to say that they
have 'nothing to do' with the project.

Peter and Len have been helpful since the beginning contributing
their time to the Type III protocol development effort. Without the
advice and suggestions that they (and other remailer operators!)
have provided, there is *no way* that the Type III would be anywhere
near where it is today.

Both Len and Peter have also contributed their time testing the
Mixminion software and reporting bugs. Peter was instrumental in
double-checking our specification's correctness, has contributed
several bug-fixes, and runs the project's Bugzilla server.

(And to people who don't like Len or Peter: I want *your* help
making the Type III protocol and the Mixminion software better, too.

It hasn't occurred to you that many of the people operating remailers or
contributing to the development of remailer software, the people you are
attempting to defend from Frog's attacks in this news group, might find

As far as I am concerned, there is no "Frog War." Once I was convinced
that Frog-Admin was attempting to damage the remailer network (rather than
just being terminally confused), I stopped really caring about Frog. It
is Frog who wants the war. I'm not going to let him distract me from what
is important -- improving the state of the art of anonymity.

I believed you were providing a service to this news group by archiving
"famous" posts and explaining the fallacies in Frog's libelous statements
in this news group. I considered you an ally in that regard -- protecting
the usefulness of alt.privacy.anon-server aids the anonymity community as
a whole. I am glad that your website exists, and that you are maintaining
it.

If I am to be called "gutless" for objecting to your senseless attacks on
an alternative sexuality, so be it. I don't see how this has anything to
do with Frog-Admin, the privacy newsgroups, or politics. It has to do with
you making an assertion that people who have an alternative sexuality are
not, somehow, worthy of your respect. I need to make it clear that I am
not sympathetic to that view.

Firstly, I don't know or care about the details of Frog-Admin's sexuality.
That information is completely irrelevant and unimportant to the issues at
hand in this newsgroup, and attempting to make them relevant just causes
you to distract attention from the real issues. We're now debating *this*
instead of discussing privacy or anonymity or any of the other things this
newsgroup if for.

And secondly, you have started down a path that will alienate many of your
supporters. Do what you want -- but don't be surprised to find your
present course of action causing you to lose a lot of support among the
libertarians present.

Lastly, I don't want "war" with you. However, I don't fear you. This is
now in your hands -- if you want to turn this newsgroup into a forum for
gay bashing and homophobia, you can do that. If you would rather see it
return to being a forum for the discussion of privacy technologies, you
can also fight for that. Which will it be?

Well, that's fine. But we in apas have to live with his crap. We are
not as "objective" about it as are you. You have many other irons in
the fire. This group may be only a hobby with most of us, but that

Again, you missed my point that Frog has rubbed our noses in his
deviancy for too long. So stop telling me in various ways that his

I am not about to start an argument here regarding the deviant
practices of homosexuals and what a toll these practices have taken on
their lives long, long before AIDS ever came.

I don't have any supporters. There is only one person in all this time
who ever stood up for me. That was Christman. Outside of him, I never
heard a word of support from anyone. So don't threaten me with the loss
