at least you might troll with OT posts if you HAVE to be infantile.
Maybe you could go live on IRC?

There's an easy solution to dealing with Clark's posts.

Depending on your newsgroup software, it will be called "block author,"
"killfile," or "twit filter." Set any of these up to send Clark's nonsense where
it belongs - the trash file - and the rest of us can get back to discussing
recumbents.

Why's everybody always pickin' on me ?, BOO HOO HOO !!!. <g>
Every time I see one of you guys cryin' the blues about OT posts
I always recall the real gems from this newsgroup you guys really like
talking about. Things like SUV's, helmet use, the Beth ride report, the
World Series, yadda yadda yadda....... seem to draw the most posts.
Besides Ed Gin's tire testing reports, everything on this
newsgroup is just a bunch of guys sittin' around and BS'ing about
recumbents (sometimes). I don't waste my time posting to threads that
don't offer any chance of creating a creative reply. There ain't a whole
helluva lot you can add to a reply about things like Primo tire
circumference (BTW, mine's 1477 on the front tire). Quit crying, you're
not paying anything to belong to this newsgroup, so what do you expect
for free ?.
FWIW, I hit 46.5MPH downhll on the Tailwind last week ! <g>

Seems as though I recall you carping about signal-to-noise before.
Lately, most of the noise around here is from you.

I agree that often times this is the case. Why don't you try raising
the bar instead of lowering it.

Yes, brian rides around on his bent with candy strung behind him on a big
hook, he races around elementary school parking lots until the children
begin chasing him and grab for the candy, getting snagged on the hook. He
then removes the hook and put the child in his seat bag.

I thought we all took part in this past time (bicycling) because it's fun.
I for one enjoy a certain amount of "off-topic posts" because they are made
by the people who ride recumbents. That's close enough to being "on-topic"
for me. I quit subscribing to the hpv list because it became to serious
and not fun anymore. Please don't take this list away from me, too. Keep
it up Bryan and to the rest of you who don't like "off-topic
posts".......don't read them, isn't it that easy? Besides, doesn't this
thread qualify as "off-topic?" Most people contributing to this thread are
going against their own arguments.

no one posted anything about canada that i saw, brian just posted an
obvious troll (i don't see starting trouble by slandering a country as
anything NEAR OT, i'm amazed so many ppl play up to this nonsense, i
KNOW what you mean about dry, technical groups, this won't ever become
that i'm sure, i just WISH brian would keep the trolling to a bare
minimum. Some ppl new to this group might think he's serious then
it'll be another "Marines, Helmet laws" thread. Personally i think he
likes to see how much of the topics on this group he can "author" This
is a GROUP, not a one man show, afterall.

well stated, i'm thankful for posters such as yourself who are more
diplomatic than myself. These are the ppl whose posts i look forward
to reading. I read most of the tech posts too as they *are* a wealth
of information about ppls experiences which ain't a bad way to learn.

what a bizarre concept on a recumbent newsgroup.

this ain't Creative Writing for Brian Clarks amusement 101

so? I was gonna say add something when you have something to say, but
you have something to say about ten times a day it seems, tho mostly
just in the sh*t disturbing vein. I will say i like your posts about
the canal trail rides and your updates on your new RANS. Also thought
your posts about *getting* it were interesting and informative.
Trashing Canada just to generate posts is just stupid. Too much of
this kind of thing can run off OT posters as the group slides into
some kind of bent version of hee haw with ppl trying to out funny each
other.
>Quit crying, you'renot paying anything to belong to this newsgroup, so what do you expect
>for free ?.
like i'm going to do what *you* say? whether it has a cost or NOT has
*NOTHING* to do with whether or not posters have a right to object to
obnoxious behavior on the part of another poster.

Yes, I did go through my Bob Cardone wannabe phase bitching about people
trying to stay "on-topic", but I've given up. Being a "net cop" isn't my
job, and I don't want to be a newsgroup Nazi.
I think I WILL cut down on the amount of noise in the
signal-to-noise ratio of my posts, it'll save me a lot of typing too !.

I resemble this statement (NOT)
Brian, your disgusting nature, and ability to pick on others of course makes

I like to think of Brian as "chaff". Both in the banter sense and in the
anti-radar sense -- he draws the fire of on-topic purists, allowing the rest of
us to escape relatively unscathed.

Who is this Brain Clark bloke anyway? Did he like offend the entire
Australian nation at one time? Because all the servers down here omit
his posts, (Well, my server and the service provider at work, I can only
see his quotes in other people posts). I don't have anyone in a kill
file or such.

As for the on-topic posts problem, you don't have to read'em...

Exactly, who would want to read all those on-topic posts.

On the other hand, the off-topic posts are like road kill - you really want to
