REAL NEWS ABOUT ASTONCRYPT CAMS ( - and no need to visit our site to
find it out what it is - we aren't that desperate for hits)

ASTON CAMS
- THE TRUTH
- NOT STORIES MADE UP BY PEOPLE WITH NOTHING BETTER TO DO
- REPEATED BY PEOPLE WHO DON'T CHECK THE FACTS

Last week I spoke to Aston-France sales department (who should know)

Firstly, we & others who pay - will have more stock of more Aston CAMS
in about 3 weeks - these CAMS will be Version 1.05

HISAT have stock of Aston version 1.05
but it IS likely that we will sell
out before the new stock arrives

- There is NOT a Version 1.07
- there is No such CAM as version 1.07
- Aston have no plans to change from the version 1.05 which works very
well

Aston say "Internet stories repeated on "News sites" about version
1.07 CAMS are Totally False - and have not come from ASTON-FRANCE and
there is absolutely no truth to the stories"

B_Dogs never lies :-)

Woof

I'll B BARK :-)

Hmm on the 18/01/01 you are quoted as saying:

"Aston's rep. said they haven't made a V1.05
and maintain that their latest CAM version is the V1.04"

AND certain "news" sites accused me of tampering with the CAM's
to make the version read 1.05...hehe

This was when I had the 1.05 in my hands and no-one believed me..
remember ?
A Month later every-one had 'em.

Aston's announcements should be taken with a large pinch of salt
me thinks ( and don't belieive all you read in the "news" either )
:-)

Hello Tony
A Friend of mine was at the show in Italy ( From Holland )
There is a 107 Cam !!

Why would aston france tell you the truth they don't won't everybody
to rush out and buy a 105 cam ?????

both Mark and Alan make valid points
I remember doubting Mark having just received V1.04 CAMS so your point
is particularly well taken - Alan told me by Telephone about the "seen
V1.07"

I want to make it absolutely clear though no disrespect to either
contributor but as far as I know I'm the only person in this newsgroup
who has a direct account with Astoncrypt (something I didn't have when
Mark got his V1.05)

Also stories about Version 1.07 have been accompanied by assertions
about how the new CAM will work (or not work) these include details
about being only suitable for (depending on who you listen too) 3
providers (or 2) and then switchable so that it can't be used for a
provider ever etc. etc.

I have specifically possesed two questions to Aston
1) was there a Version 1.07 CAM? to which the reply was "no - and that
they where aware of the rumours but they where wholly untrue"
2) will the spec. of the V1.05 be altered in any way - no again was
the reply
the reason for this last question is that only some V1.03 Aston CAMs
work on ITV Digital in an HDTV for example

I have ordered version 1.05 CAMs and my order has been accepted on the
basis that, that is what I get

- and finally why would Aston make a CAM which is less useful than
the current one? their only interest in producing the CAM in the first
place was to make money selling something for which there was an
obvious Market since many digital receivers couldn't be used with a
SECA Mediaguard CARD without something to fit around the card and into
the receivers "CI" slot

Ah you say - why would Humax stop making the successful IRCI5400 -
obviously the difference here is licencing and onwership of the Irdeto
product - maybe Humax would have been better off having something that
emulated Irdeto than actually was Irdeto - all of this is of course a
complete minefield -
Copyrights and Freedom to use Numeric Algorythms are on opposing sides
in a battle for supremecy - Long live FREDCRYPT (Does everything and
copies no-one) :-)
