Does anyone using the 4.1 onboard sound on the Iwill266 or any other Iwill
board actually use and find any benefit to the C-Media Mixer? It seem to
does duplicate the functions of the normal windows mixer and add to your
system tray and resources?

So is there any added functionality or benefit when using it, or can I just
uninstall it?

I find it handy for muting and unmuting my microphone, but that's
about it. I don't leave it running all the time, but I do have a
shortcut to it on my taskbar.

Actuall you need it to enable the 4.1 sound. I use it to enable my rear
surround speakers and am happy with the performance. Also you can play with
the effects feature and add reverb or concert hall sound.
