I would like to enable Remote Desktop on all PCs via
Group Policy and only allow Administrators to connect to
these machines for remote troubleshooting purpose?

I'm looking for something similar to the Solicited Remote
Assistance & Offer Remote Assistance features of GP.

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi Teo Chee Yang:
Resolution:

=========

Upgrade Windows 2000 Group policy to Windows XP per:

Q307900 Upgrading Windows 2000 Group Policy for Windows XP

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q307/9/00.asp

Then enable one or more of the following policies:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Remote Assistance:
Solicited Remote Assistance or Offer Remote Assistance

Then to actually force RDP to be enabled on a Windows XP Professional
Machine
(Disabled by default) you must set the following policy to "DISABLED"

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal
Services\Do Not Allow New Client Connections.

Set this to "Disabled" and run GPUPDATE on the XP client. You can verify
that
it has been enabled by right clicking on "My computer" and choosing
properties, clicking on the Remote Tab and checking that the "Allow users to
connect remotely to this computer" is greyed out and checked.

Thanks

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your great reply. Some further questions:

1. It seems like enforcement of RDP policy needs to be
done individually on each XP machine? I cant seem to find
the "Do not allow new client connections" policy when I
try to configure a GPO which links to an OU.

2. Can the RDP enforcement settings be set at GPO level,
rather than on Local Security Policy of each XP machine?

Appreciate your reply. Thanks.

I have tried this but it still only comes up with the
Windows 2000 GP- I have full rights to access & edit the
GP.
Stuck. . .
