Does anybody know how to re-install HyperTerminal if it
was removed after 2000 build?

Thanks,
Dan

By default some components, including the Communications application
HyperTerminal, are not displayed in the Add/Remove Programs tools. The
following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article describes a procedure to
cause hidden components to be displayed.

KB223182 - Adding Optional Components to Add/Remove Programs Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=223182

Specifically, to show HyperTerminal the following two lines must be
edited as outlined in KB223182:

AccessUtil=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,accessor.inf,HIDE,7
CommApps=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,communic.inf,HIDE,7

After removing HIDE from those two lines in sysoc.inf (and saving the
file) HyperTerminal will be available to install by doing the following:

Open Control Panel. Click Add/Remove Programs. Click the button:
Add/Remove Windows Components. Select Accessories and Utilities and
click the Details button. Select Communications and click the Details
button.

NOTE: By default, C:\WINNT\inf is a hidden folder. Also, there is more
than one file in that directory that begins with sysoc. Therefore, if
necessary change your Explorer view options as follows so that you can
see the hidden folder and file extensions. To do that: Open the Control
Panel, open Folder Options, select the View [tab], click to select:
"Show hidden files and folders" and click to clear "Hide file
extensions for known file types".
