Yamazaki and Shoshinkai

1. TIMELINE

1970 Yamazaki became Soka Gakkai attorney.

1975 Yamazaki obtained a land from Taisekiji with
an unusually cheep price. He sold it to a paper
company which he created, and re-sold it to Soka
Gakkai, to gain a profit of 450,000,000 Yen.
Yamazaki schemed battles between Nichiren Shoshu
and Soka Gakkai, and attempted to control both.

1976 Myokan-kai, a young active priest's group,
started criticize Soka Gakkai.

1977 Yamazaki started using "Tabloid journals" to
criticize Soka Gakkai anonymously.

1978 Yamazaki wrote anonymously a letter titled, "a
letter from a believer" and submitted to 66th HP
Nittatsu. This letter fabricated that Soka Gakkai was
going to take over the priesthood, and
emphasized that the priesthood has to fight to control
Soka Gakkai. Active young priests were
raged and attacked Soka Gakkai in every Oko
meetings.

Yamazaki wrote anonymously in tabloids that Soka
Gakkai had inscribed 8 Gohonzon in 1974. The
truth of the matter was that it was the transcription of
old paper Gohonzon to wood to perpetuate
the Gohonzon. The plan was approved by HP
Nittatsu. General Administrator of Nichiren Shoshu,
Fujimoto, testified that it was the case. But Yamazaki
fabricated as if Soka Gakkai made its own
Gohonzon so that he could agitate young priests even
more. In order to settle the situation and
protect HP Nittatsu, Soka Gakkai returned these
Gohonzon. Yamazaki forced President Ikeda to
apologize HP Nittatsu; President Ikeda did not have
to, but for the sake of protecting HP Nittatsu,
Presidnt Ikeda formally appologized HP Nittatsu.

Both HP Nittatsu and Ikeda tried to reconcile the
situation one after another, but Yamazaki kept
instigating young priests to fight. Yamazaki
suggested to priesthood to start a campaign to recruit
Danto members. He gave them tape-recorders to tape
Soka Gakkai's meetings.

1976-79 Yamazaki established several companies.
But the main company, Seahorse Co. was on
the verge of bankruptcy in 1979.

1979 Soka Gakkai Vice President Fukushima
criticized priesthood at a meeting, which was
tape-recorded (3/6). Priesthood raged. Ikeda resigned
presidency (4/24). 66th HP Nittatsu died
(7/22). Nikken Abe lied that he had received
succession from Nittatsu, and declared that he would
be the 67th HP(8/6). Yamazaki now attempted to
approach Nikken, but was rejected. Yamazaki
determined to fight against Nikken.

1980 Yamazaki had utilized the Study Division Chief
Harashima and stole Gakkai's reports on
priesthood issue. Yamazaki blackmailed Soka
Gakkai for 300, 000,000 Yen by saying that he
would publicize these reports. Actually, these reports
were written in accordance with Yamazaki's
cunningly planned "ADVICE" so that if publicized,
they would rage priesthood. Since the
relationship between Nichiren Shoshu and Soka
Gakkai was so delicate and since members were
suffering from unreasonable attack from priests, 4th
President Hojo paid Yamazaki in order to
protect members from further confusion. Yamazaki's
Seahorse Co. bankrupt with a debts of
4,500,000,000 Yen. Then, Yamazaki blackmailed
Soka Gakkai again for 500,000,000 Yen. Soka
Gakkai accused Yamazaki for his crime (6/5) and
fired him from the attorney position.

Yamazaki hid himself and wrote 14 articles
anonymously attacking Soka Gakkai in tabloids. Then,
using his real name wrote another 19 articles in tabloids.
All articles were skillfully fabricated to
make him a man of justice who investigated Soka
Gakkai. Through these articles, he attempted to
escape the arrest.

1980-81 Yamazaki wrote several articles in tabloid
journals that Nikken was not a legitimate
successor, and that Nikken is a play-boy and greedy
for money. Nikken was raged against
Yamazaki and said that Yamazaki is a liar.

1981 Yamazaki was arrested (1/24). About 200
young active priests of Myokan-kai were raged
and protested against Nikken. 170 of them were
subsequently excommunicated by Nikken. Those
excommunicated priests formed "Shoshinkai."
(meaning Correct Faith Association) and took a legal
action against Nikken. (The court case is still going
on unsolved in 1997.) Some of Myokan-kai
priests apologized to Nikken and pardoned, which
include Yozai Yamada (used to be chief priest
of Hawaii and LA temples) and Tono (used to be
chief priest of NY temple). Tono later left
Nichiren Shoshu and built a temple in New York
called Myokan-ji temple.

1981-85 75 hearings were held on Yamazaki's crime.

1983 In an attempt to avoid conviction, Yamazaki
started a campaign to use the national diet to
attack Soka Gakkai. He made a tie with Toshio
Ohashi, who was a Komeito party congressman
but had started attacking Soka Gakkai (because he
was criticized by Soka Gakkai for his
womanizing activity). Yamazaki drafted a 17 page
"Request for the Investigation on Soka Gakkai
by the Diet" for Ohashi. On (9/2), Ohashi submitted
this to the Chairman of the Lower house. The
content said that the activities of Soka Gakkai are in
violation of the separation of the State and the
Church, and therefore, it should be investigated by
the Diet. It even suggested to disband Soka
Gakkai using the Article 81 of the "Religious
Corporstion Law." Yamazaki's intension was that if
Soka Gakkai was an illegal organization, his crime
might be lessened. However, it was flatly
rejected, because it contained stories which were no
more than tabloid gossips.

(Although Yamazaki failed at that time, his "Request
for the Investigation" became a Bible fothe
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), because it
described how to maliciously apply the Religious
Corporation Law for investigating and controlling a
religious organization. Indeed, in 1995, LDP
employed Yamazaki's ides and successfully revised
the Religious Corporation Law for their
convenience to control Soka Gakkai.)

1985 Yamazaki was sentenced guilty (6/29) at the
Tokyo District court. The Judge sought 3 years
imprisonment by saying that "The defendant is an
ingenious liar, and none of his testimonies were
reliable. All of them were fabrication. He has no
remorse in what he has done. This is a
unprecedented malicious crime." Yamazaki appealed
to Tokyo High court.

1986 Yamazaki was arrested (3/29) for gambling
Mah-Jong game with enormaous amount of cash.

1985-88 Yamazaki kept writing in tabloids attacking
Soka Gakkai.

1988 Tokyo High court rejected the appeal (12/20).
Yamazaki appealed to Supreme court.

1991 Supreme court rejected the appel (1/22).
Yamazaki imprisoned without probation (2/25).

1993 Yamazaki was released on parole (4/27) and
lived in Zenpukuji, a Shoshinkai temple. He was
under surveillance until 10/27, but started writing in
tabloid (10/21) before the period of surveillance
is over.

1994 Yamazaki still lived in the Shoshinkai temple
from where he wrote at least 5 letters to Nikken,
which were all scooped by Chugai Nippou, a non-
sectarian religious newspaper in
Kyoto.Yamazaki wrote:

"I have no doubt that you are the legitimate successor
of 66th HP Nittatsu. For the court case
(Note: Nikken side sued Soka Gakkai in libel that
Nikken's fame was damaged when Soka Gakkai
published Nikken's photo surrounded by several
Geisha Girls), all news source on your women's
scandals came from Rev. Kubokawa (President of
Shoshin-kai). You have to take an appropriate
action against him. If I am summoned to the court, I
could testify whatever I want, but others may
not. What I have publicized so far on the Shoshin-kai
issue was only 40%, and 60% is still in my
hand unpublicized." (Note: Here, Yamazaki threatens
Nikken by mentioning that he holds the weak
point of Nikken.)

"Concerning the Shoshinkai issue, I suggest that both
Shoshin-kai and Nichiren Shoshu withdraw
the legal actions unconditionally. Then, I suggest that
you would pardon them by canceling the
excommunication. I believe that a 70 % of Shoshin-
kai priests want to return to Nichiren Shoshu.
On September 27 (1994), I had a conference with a
leader of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on
the future anti-Soka Gakkai campaign. We are
planning to attack Soka Gakkai on the budget
committee meeting around November 11-13 during
the time when the session would be Televised
nationwide. "(Note: This actually happened in the
Diet.)

"This is the declaration of war against Soka Gakkai,
and we will continue this until we could
summon Daisaku Ikeda to the Diet as a witness. In
reference to tabloid journals, everyone in the
Bungei Shunju company, including the president and
editor-in-chief, hates Soka Gakkai. This would
continue for another 10 years. Kodansha Pub. Co. is
rather complicated, because it has published
several Gakkai-related books. The hatred of Shukan
Shincho Pub. Co. on Soka Gakkai is second
to none, but it is rather difficult in dealing with the
company. As to Kobunsha Pub. Co. the editor
publishes anything as long as we give him a bribe. "

"Since Nichiren Shohu became a small sect, it has to
cooperate with other Nichirenshu. I could
serve as an envoy.(Note: This actually happened,
too.) As to the time of your resignation, it is
important that everything should be done reasonably
and logically. Then, after your retirement, I
would like to accompany your leisure trip around the
world. This is my earnest desire, and with
which I am living everyday with content."

1994-97 Nikken follows Yamazaki in all of his
campaigns to attack Soka Gakkai.

1997 Yamazaki was sued by his former girl friend,
Mrs. Kazue Wakuda, a Hokkeko member of
Denpoji in Oita Prefecture (Chief priest, Wado
Hamanaka of Shoshinkai) for not returning 25
million Yen which he borrowed. In her 100 pages
deposition, Wakuda severely condemed
Yamazaki as a liar, gambler and womanizer:
Yamazaki and Women

2. BACKGROUND

Yamazaki is an ingenious liar and betrayer who
follows his own wealth and fame and seeks power.
He betrayed Soka Gakkai and caused conflict
between Gakkai and Priesthood. Then, he
volunteered to be a mediator between both sides.
Through this, he wanted to control both Gakkai
and priesthood. He also utilized priesthood, which is
naïve with secular matter, to have made an
enormous amount of profit.

When Nikken became 67th HP, Yamazaki
approached him, but was rejected. Yamazaki
instigated
active young priests by saying that Nikken was not a
legitimate successor of 66th HP Nittatsu. They
attacked both Soka Gakkai and Nikken. Nikken
excommunicated 170 active priests. These priests
formed Shoshinkai (meaning Correct Faith
Association). Because of power and money he
obtained,
he learned the taste of women. With careless and
loose operation of his company, he issued
numerous promissory notes, which became empty
promises. He blackmailed Soka Gakkai twice to
obtain cash to save his company.

Finally Soka Gakkai accused him, and he was
arrested. He was sentenced to 3 year's
imprisonment without probation. In 1993, Yamazaki
was released from jail on parole, and lived in a
Shoshinkai temple. At that time, Nikken was failing
in his "Operation C" to dismantle Soka Gakkai
and recruits Gakkai members as temple's Danto.
Therefore, Nikken needed a schemer to help
attacking Soka Gakkai. Nikken apologized Yamazaki
that he had once called Yamazaki a liar.

Yamazaki wrote a total of 5 letters to Nikken by
saying that he had no doubt that Nikken was the
legitimate successor (He betrayed 170 priests of
Shoshinkai). The fact that Yamazaki wrote Nikken
these letters from the Shoshin-kai temple indicates
that Yamazaki is now threatening Nikken for
money. Under sweet, flattering words, Yamazaki hid
the words of threatening.

Knowingly or unknowingly, Nikken had to follow
Yamazaki's advices. Yamazaki wrote in these
letters that Nikken is the only one who could
reconcile the Shoshinkai incident before retiring.
Yamazaki suggested that Nichiren Shoshu should
pardon Shoshinkai priest, and unconditionally
accept their return. Nikken accepted his advice, and
attempted to reconcile with Shoshin-kai. It is
believed that a Right-wing leader, Mr. Kato in
Nagoya City, became a messenger and met with
Rev. Watanabe, the leader of Shoshinkai. The
Shoshinkai side was basically willing to accept the
offer as long as they could return to Nichiren Shoshu
unconditionally. However, Nichiren Shoshu
Priesthood Council strongly opposed to this
negotiation, because there would be a good possibility
that, if Shoshinkai priests would return, they would
take over Nichiren Shoshu. Therefore, the
Nikken's plan failled.

It looks like we've got another hit-and-run troll here, folks.

Do you think he'll bother to respond to what anybody says about s/he(it)'s
posts?

Not bloody likely.
