try turning it on and in the few seconds youll have, hit 'open' button,
and at the same time give it a good smart, whack on the side-this should
dislodge the tracker, and cause it to return, and thus the drawer should
open; but NOT TOO HARD....

hello
I had this same problem about a month ago, unfortunatly it had to go into the
shop and it took about a month to be repaired because a new part had to be
ordered. I hope your still under warranty.

Here's a list of the error codes, taken from the service manual of the
CLD-D925. I expect the codes are common for all Pioneer players.
H0 - Spindle overcurrent detection error
H1 - Partial short error
H2 or A0 - Power supply abnormality error
U0 - FG abnormality error
U1 - Miss clamp error
U2 - Communication error
L* - Loading error
E* - Slider error
P* - Spindle error
F* - Focus error
Where "*" (with a few exceptions) means:
0 - Play
1 - Open
2 - Standby
3 - Clamp
4 - Disc sense
5 - Setup (rotation start)
6 - TOC read
7 - Play
8 - Search
9 - Side A to Side B
A - Side B to Side A
So, "E3" indicates a slider clamp error.
The descriptions were more detailed, containing conditions and probable
cause of the error. If it's of any interest, I'll gladly write down the
complete list and post it.

if this doesn't help, I had the same situation on a used CLD-515.
I opened the player and took the disc out (carefully!). after I plugged it in
again
the tracker went back. It's been trouble free for a while now...

<VBG> This proves that sometimes giving a broken thing a good whack _is_
the best way to fix the problem. ;)
