PRESS RELEASE

ESTES ACQUIRES RIGHTS TO
NORTH COAST ROCKETRY PRODUCT LINE

PENROSE, CO - Estes Industries announced today that it has acquired the
rights to manufacture and market the North Coast Rocketry line of high
power kits and motors.

The move further establishes Estes as the world's premier model rocket
company, and adds a market segment to compliment Estes' existing
products.

"This offers rocketeers everywhere an unparalleled opportunity for new
and exciting products in the field of high power rocketry" said Matt
Steele, President of North Coast Rocketry. "We will be able to use Estes'
resources to improve the quality, sophistication, and distribution of our
products to reach an even greater audience. The entire hobby of model
rocketry will benefit from this move."

Matt Steele will continue as President of North Coast Rocketry, but will
also assume responsibilities for marketing Estes' rocket products. Dan
Kafun, Vice President of North Coast Rocketry, will also join Estes as a
senior R&D engineer.

As a result of this move, North Coast Rocketry will go into a production
hiatus as their products are integrated into the Estes production center.
Numerous product improvements are planned for the kits and motors, which
will debut in late October at the Chicago Model and Hobby Show.

If they simply change nothing they will have the benefit of wrong grain
direction wood, specified delays which are way too long, kits which have
no parachutes due to supply or cost problems and "the #1 item they will
have if Estes changes nothing" THE QUALITY ENGINEERING YOU HAVE COME TO
EXPECT FROM THE BOYS AT NORTH BOAST.

Hey John, sorry about the cynical reply to your prior post :), but while I'm
on a roll... what could Estes do to NCR kits and motors so that they are
brought up to the fine standard of Estes?

1) Shorten the shock cords so we get a fine but bigger
"Estes Dent".

2) Start shaving the 'chute sizes down to the point
fins start breaking on landing.

3) Reduce the impulse of the NCR motors by about 25% so
that they'll be in line with the d12 series.

4) Reduce the wall thickness of the motors so they make
a nice, loud, KA-BLOOEY!

Oh well, it's late and I don't want to try and think of 6 more items :-)

Of course, ESTES will eliminate half of the line of kits, and half of the
engine types available for them, and then hide different ones in
different shops so that to even have a remote chance of seeing the
complete line will require a catalog which may or may not show up in 6 to
8 weeks. :)
