I am still in preparing mode myself, microsoft has recommended some
books (publsh by ms press of course) that can be found here
http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcsd/requirementsdotnet.asp
also you might want to check some interactive mentors like that of
boson or other flash cards. I hope anyone else could shed some light
on this?

Regards
Arif

I recently took exam 70-305, and was lucky enough to pass. The layout
of the topics in the exam I took were as follow:
40% ADO.NET
20% Security
20% Tracing and debugging
20% Everything else

In terms of preperation, I used study guide and practice exams:

Study guide:
1. MCAD/MCSD Developing and Implementing Web Applications with VB.NET
and VS.NET by Mike Gunderloy. Publish by Que. - This is the best study
guide I've seen out there (although there's still not a lot of study
guide on this exam at this time). This book covers the exam topics
very well. The labs are very well designed, and helped me a lot to
remember the methods of some important system classes. I think i'll
continue to use this book as a reference because it covered the topics
so well. Try to finish most of the lab in this book, it will be very
helpful. I highly recommend this study guide.

2. MCAD/MCSD Developing and Implementing Web Applications with VB.NET
and VS.NET. Publish by Microsoft Press. - This is the first study
guide I bought, and I think it was not very helpful. It only covers
the exam topics at a high level, and the worst part is that the
practice exam questions are too simple compare to the actual exam. I
don't recommend using this study guide.

Practice exams:
1. MeasureUp - The format and difficulty of their exams are very close
to the actual exam. It helped me a great deal because I learned most
of the knowledge I needed to pass the exam by reading the explanation
of the answers. I say their exam questions are very close because the
actual exam questions were much longer. Most of the questions were a
few paragraphs long, so 1 hour and 45 minutes is not really that long
in the actual exam.

2. Trancender - Their exams are quite good, and are very similar to
MeasureUp. However, their exam questions are not as close to the
actual exam questions compare to MeasureUp. I would still buy the
Trancender test because the more practice exam the better.

I think you will need a combination of study guide, practice exams,
and actual coding to preperate for this exam. The exam questions focus
on actual knowledge of ASP.NET, not just concepts. You rarely see a
question that ask you the difference of a web user control and a web
custom control. Instead, you'll see questions that say "Something
didn't work, what is the cause of this error?". Some questions are so
detail that it's impossible to know the answer unless you've actually
used that code. Lots of practice exams and actual coding will get you
the passing grade.
