I can't seem to get my sb16 sound board and my Robotics fax/voice modem
interfaced properly with my speakers. I want to use the same set of speakers
for the telephone and windows audio purposes. I have tried different
combinations but just can not figure out the magic solution. I do not have
the modem manual..it was lost in a move. The modem is 3com 56k U.S. robotics
voice/fax modem. Thanks..Gary

Use the Multimedia function (Start/Settings/ControlPanel/Multimedia) and change
the audio properties for playback & recording between Sb16 or Voice/modem. It
is a pain in the neck but this way it at least allows you to use either or them
for the time being.

I don't think there is an internal audio connection on the USR modem card to
sb16 card. I konw that Acer modem and sound cards have such a connection so
that Acer voice modem can be integrated directly with Acer sound card.

BTW, any one knows why under win98 3com/USR's RapidComm (smith Moicro) program
does not work. Looks like it always dials a "1" before any number entered
which basically gives me a voice reply from the phone company telling me that I
should not dial 1 for local calls.

All the settings are correctly configured and I use Microsoft fax to test that
the modem actually works, therefore it points to Rapidcomm is the culprit.

The Rapidcomm program was working fine under win95.

I have the speaker out line of my modem connected to the line in jack
on my sound card.
That seems to work for me.

I hope that this helps. 8-).
