Anyone else hear the OxTrax has lost their financing and is going out of
business? I ordered an Ox for the Dana30 in my YJ in December. I get the
same story from all suppliers. They are on back order with no delivery
dates being given. I called up West Coast differentials and the person I
spoke with told me Ox lost their financing and that they are most likely
going out of business. I was shocked to hear this and wanted to see if
anyone else has heard similar stories. I am wondering if I should cancel
the Ox and order an ARB. At least with an ARB I can justify a nice On Board
Air system to my Wife! :-)

Thanks, Doug

I hate to say it but at this point any company who tells me they can't
deliver my product for an undertermined amount of time is an automatic
refund. Too many companies going belly up right now. I would have
loved to shoot for some nice, simple Ox-lockers for my 30/35's but
they didn't even offer them. If they won't be there to fix them later
or get parts from I don't want them.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! For cryin out loud. I just settled on the OxTrax locker and now
they're goin out of business????
ARBs are nice but, the complexity of the air lines bothers me. I've heard lots
of stories of leaking etc.

And Bill........don't even bring up the idea of spools! This is my wife's DD
winter and summer, so an automatic locker is out of the question too. CRAP!!!!!!

Oh hell......I'll sell the Harley and by a Rubi. I don't mind sleeping in the
doghouse for a month or two. ;)

I did say this is only a rumor. I have not heard anything first hand, but
no one is responding to me emails, and no supplier has delivery dates. I
originally ordered from Quadratech and they suggested I cancel the order and
resubmit it! I am thinking I will cancel the order and purchase an ARB and
deal with the issues. At least ARB is established and stands a greater
chance of being there if I need parts.

A friend called OX today and they admited to having problems delivering
product, but they told him they have started to deliver again and plan on
being a player in the market. Take that for what it is worth. I personally
like the concept of their lockers and hope they make it.

Hey all,
dont mean to bring you down, but ox lockers suck. No really they do. I
have two of them. I had to rebuild the rear twice already. I will post pics
of their bombproof parts too. If you doubt me just look at a new JP or
something and look at the ads for drivetrain direct. They have nothing but
ARB now instead of ox. 6 months ago it was nothing but ox and now arb.
The reason why is because they really do back the product, but ox sucks and
they tired of dealing with it so they quite carrying them.

I ask everyone that has an ox how they like it (whenever I see OX on the
diff cover). I never got an enthusiastic reply. Every time I hear, "well
they are just OK"

What's wrong with them ?
Does the bowden cable break or is it just
difficult to set up/adjust ?

The negative comments I got were about shifting problems. (only actually
talked to three different people and only one explained his comments.)

Well,
Its like this, I would like to know what every magazines definition of
bulletproof is first of all. There is a cube shaped piece of metal that hold
the c clips that actually lock the spider gears together and the sides of
the cube are actually what holds all of the stress, the sides of the cube
are paper thin. The spider gears actually warped, in the ox ad is says
nothing could be stronger unless you welded it together, thats the biggest
crock pooo let me tell you I will have some pics here of it shortly for you
to see for yourself. The other thing is that the cable stretches
constantly. If you do have one here is some advise dont lock them in while
moving more than 1-2 mph if you do it wont last long trust me. If you want a
locker for the front that is selectable buy a spool and put hubs in it will
be better.

Hi Dan,
I use a Lincoln locker up front, and advise against the spool,
because most of the time I run around with only one side locked, because
it just takes too much arm strong power steering to pull her around.

Hey Bill,
Thats even better, its the cheapest method and it works. I have a few
friends that have spool up front and run one hub locked and they never lock
the other unless they actually plan on going over something that they really
need it. The only reason why I got the ox for the front was to keep it
streetable. Now that I look back I should have just put a hub (have a tj)
conversion or dana 44 up front with hubs. but to all those who think ox is
great and you dont have one, trust me dont waste your money unless you have
to throw away.

My experience was not a pleasant one either, the small locking lugs sheared
off, not only once but twice in the rear, and once in the front. Ox was
anything but helpful... the buggers wouldn't do a thing to back them,
saying, rather that they were subjected to excess HP. excess hp from my
4200 I6, it's stock exh and 1 bbl carb... Can say that's a lot of things,
but excess hp is a wee bit off. (nostalgia, and all, must keep that I6
going)

Originally I thought the cables were an improvement on air lines, A very
wrong idea. They rust up, and have to be literally filled with lubricant
regularly. One thing my Cj didn't need is another source of oil leaking from
the underside. It already had plenty.

Sold them on EBAY, a fabulous way to clean your garage of all that junk.
