How do I change the default company name property for new documents. I
changed Normal.dot, but that was not the answer.

Thanks

I think I noticed how to do this while digging around...

Right click on your doc/dot icon and bring up the properties dialog

go to the summary tab, sellect advance, and you'll see it there
just sellect it and change it

hope this helps...

I am trying to change the default company name. My company is changing its
name, but the old name keeps coming up as the default. So, I am trying to
find out where the default is determined. I changed the Company Name
property in the Normal.dot file, but that does not affect new company names.

Thanks
Les

This can be changed on the User Information tab of Tools | Options in some
versions of Word, but in Word 97 the only way to change it is to reinstall
Word.

Hi Les,

Suzanne's close :) In Office 2000 you can change the user name that appears
on the splash screen and in screen properties through Word 2000's
Tools=>Options=>User Info block, but the change of the company name
requires a registry change. The information is in this article on how to
change it. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q233/4/99.ASP
(Microsoft was very mindful of the possible need to be able to change
a company name on a large number of computers <g>).

In versions prior to Office 2000 the information is coded into the
program files during installation and the MS supported method is
to uninstall, restart and install .
