I just now have gotten time to go through the Intel iAPX 286 data
sheets. They actually mention a 386 processor several times. In
each case they are describing a data structure that is used by the
286 for protection and they show a field that "Must be set to 0
for compatability with the iAPX 386."
This is pretty interesting. I wonder if this means that the 386 will
run 286 code???? This is the first time I have actually seen Intel
mention this processor. It looks like they are going to continue
making the same kinds of processors for a while. (I sure hope they get
rid of those 64K segment limits.)
