Everyone remembers Duck Dodgers in the twenty third and a half century
(of course!).

In one episode, he gets sent to go protect some planet from someone
else as it contains the world's supply of such-and-such, the
watcha-ma-callit molecule. (I vaguely remember this molecule had to
do with after shave).

Can anyone fill in the blanks?

(Does anyone know what I am talking about? Or am I daffy, too?).

Thanks,
J

p.s. I assume you've all heard about the Roger Rabbit laserdisk
scandal by now.

Actually "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century" :)

The stuff is called "Illudium Fosdex, the Shaving Cream Atom."
Spelling? Your guess is as good as mine. (But surely, it's not
mere coincidence that Marvin the Martian's explosive device in
another cartoon -- the thing with which he plans to blow up Earth
because it obstructs his view of Venus -- is called something like
the "Illudium Q-38 Space Modulator.")

Anyway, they have to go to Planet X to find it. Planet X is, of
course, conveniently located right between Planet W and Planet Y.
Classic!

Actually I'm in the dark on this one. What's the story?

It seems that there are a few frames where Jessica's dress hikes up, revealing
that she isn't wearing underware (ala Sharon Stone). You can't tell without a
means of viewing the movie a frame at a time. I'm not totally sure about this
but I believe that you can only do this with the laser disk.

Illudium Phozdex - the Shaving Cream Atom

Not to be confused with the Illudium Phew-36 Explosive Space Modulator
which is the favorite device of Mayhem of Marvin Martian.

No you are not daffy. The original cartoon, which was called
"Duck Dodgers In The 24-1/2th Century" had D.D. and Eager Young
Space Cadet (Porky) looking for Planet X, with the universe's
only known supply of Illudium Phosdex, the Shaving Cream Atom.

Apparently, some folks single stepping frame-by-frame through the
laserdisk (CAV version) of Who Framed Roger Rabbit discovered some
slightly risque cells. This, of course, eventually made it to the
evening news and various newspapers.

I've only seen snippets of the reports, but apparently there are
places where you can look up Jessica Rabbit's dress or see Disney
president Michael Issner's phone number scrawled on a wall in the
background.

Rec.video has some better references.

Right! And according to "Chuck Amuck", (CJ's Autobiography), the
spelling is "Illudium Phosdex". For both of you out there who care.

Bonus to fill this posting: Outtakes from the cartoon: [Ibid.]

DAFFY: Hello, calling Planet Earth! 3XAL calling... Hello... Hello...
