Actually the latest nightly is 1.3.a about the middle of feb.
They were supposed to discontinue OS9 updates because they wanted to
support OSX only since they only have two or three Mac Coders left in
the system. :-(

One word on your reason - Wrong. The desire to drop Mac Classic builds started
in the Netscape Mac developer ranks. Said ranks being virtually the only ones
ever to touch the Mac Classic code. Without debating the details, the Mac OS X
builds have attracted much more interest from the Mozilla external development
community than Mac Classic ever did. Chimera contributions alone far exceed
what we saw for Mac Classic. Much as Netscape/Mozilla bit the bullet in '98 and
declared Win16 builds were dead, we now do the same for Mac Classic.

Well, it took quite a while, but I'm finally feeling left behind by not
running OS X.

Mac 8500/OS 9.1

Yes. Sigh.

I think there are more 9.x users now (as a percentage of the mac
community) than there were Win16 users in 98.

The junk mail filter seems like a fantastic feature. I'd fall on
my knees and beg and kiss someone's feet if 1.3 would make it over
to MacOs 9.x.

Jeff <j...@cowboy.net>, running Mac G3/Yosemite (rev A, with
the crappy IDE controller that makes running OS X a difficult
proposition without significant hardware upgrades).

Markus, Torben, Phillip, Steve, Ladd, Jeff,

Would you be amenable to helping us test an unofficial build we have recently put together? We'd like to get a sing-off from mozilla.org and have it looked at and tested a little bit before releasing it officially. Please understand that the build is currently unsupported and we might need to rebrand it to avoid any confusion on the issue.

Please email me for more information.

Best wishes,
J.

No problem, I love to help.

I have tested the build (only the browser so far) for a while, and it is
really good. I hope you can make a official release soon.

My suggestion is to use Mozilla's own installer, that is what we are
acustomed to. There may however be a bog or two that need fixing
(bugzilla is unresponsive so I cannot find the numbers now).

BTW, do you plan to make further mac classic versions of mozilla?

I should be happy to help test a Mozilla 1.3 for Mac OS 9.x insofar as
I can. I am currently using Mozilla 1.3b, Build 20030115, which was
one of the last to be made available for Mac OS 9.x, but there have, I
imagine, been many bug-fixes since then.

Please tell me from where I can download your version of 1.3 for Mac
9.x.

I have had no response to the above message. I have also e-mailed
MozillaCafe (whom I take to be the builders of the experimental Mac OS
9.x version of the final Mozilla 1.3 – but find it difficult to sort
out who wrote what in this string of messages and may have e-mail;ed
the wrong people) and had no response.

Please would someone tell me how and where I can obtain the 9.x
version of Mozilla 1.3 – or, indeed, by now 1.4?

I got 1.3 to try; it has some significant bugs that previous versions
don't, as well as the same old set. I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

New windows open above (higher on the screen), often up under the
menubar.

Dragging text to another app's window (unreliable even with earlier
versions) sometimes just doesn't work at all.

Dragged text (or copied with "Copy" "Paste") still comes across in the
wrong font and text size, just like other recent (but not older)
versions.

It's stable enough, but sites that use JavaScript can still wedge it
completely (just like earlier versions).

I only use the browser, and have never tried the mail or news functions.
