straight. But I picture Willis as more of a scrappy, street-fighter, all

Yeah. No one beats Cambell at getting pissed off.:) I just can't picture

It's amazing how typed-casted both of these actors are now :). What they
should do is exploit Doom's deathmatch feature and have Arnold, Stallone and
Willis blasting monsters and hunting down each other :).

What the HELL is the film gonna be about? Can't think of any believable

one ALONE, destroys all of HELL and the Icon of Sin. It's gonna have
to be far fetched. Anyone know anything more?

Doh! I just assumed that Kurt Russell was doing a poor imitation of
Clint Eastwood.. silly me! Kurt should stop trying to be an action

studio was afraid that he couldn't carry the film by himself. :)

Bite your tongue off! I always felt that DooM was programmed *in the
first place* so that Arnold could play this part in a movie :-) I can
see him now, cooly putting a rocket in his launcher while facing a
Baron from Hell: "Well, you look like a pretty strong boy. Here,

True, he comes off as the underdog better and I, too, like the way
that he fights back when he's cornered. It would be great if these
guys would co-star in this thing. There's no hard and fast rule that
says that there just has to be one guy (they need a *plot* after all,
and this would still be true to DooM- they'd be playing coop ;-) And
this isn't such a far-fetched idea because these guys are good friends
and business partners already (they are co-owners of Planet Hollywood,
I think). They'd have a blast doing this together (literally :-)
Just a bunch of wild speculation, but who knows...

Yes, sounds great to me, and guess who's the perfect match to direct
this movie: JAMES CAMERON, of course. The genius behind two of the
most successfull action movies to date: Aliens (any better similarity
to Doom, anyone?) and Terminator 2- Judgment Day.

the only chance the DooM movie has is to HAVE NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH
THE GAME. The only similarities you can have to be successful is: 1) the
name (maybe, might be better to change to something like DOOM: Road to
Hell) and 2) have it about a space marine of the future going through
hell and back. And, please, _NO_ look alike monsters! That would look soo
idiotic, the film would be destined to as big a failure as the street
fighter movie.
oh, I guess the other possibility is to do a Mortal Kombat thing, where
they said, "ok, we got the guys from the game to star, can they act? No?
ok, We'll have zero plot what-so-ever, and just have a lot of fighting
scenes. Afterall, kids love fighting scenes, and hey, kids love music
videos right? We'll just have the movie one big music video..!!"
anyways, thats my view on the doom movie. I certianly expect that, if the
doom movie isn't already scraped, they will have to do some creative
writing to try to make ANOUTHER video game movie a sucess, and rise above
all the other failures...
Totally different idea here. I (from day one) could see the doom marine
as noone but Bruce Campbell. Hell, that little face in the status bar
even looks like him: big eyebrows/ big chin. And not to mention the
freakin chainsaw. I honestly thought doom was a "game" version of
Evil Dead. Not a bad rap in my opinion. As well, alot of the 'stretched
skin' textures remind one of the Necronimicon.
I could see Campbell having alot of fun with imps and such. Plenty of
opportunity for one-liners.

OutFstanding! Okay, DooM the Co-op movie dream team:
Arnold Schwarzeneggar
Sylvester Stallone
Bruce Willis
Bruce Campbell
Kurt Russel
Henry Rollins
Tom Berringer.
It would be a cool team, wide variety of characters, and enough

Bruce Campbell was awesome in Army of Darkness! If you want attitude and a guy
that can say stupid shit with a straight face (like "Nobody's gonna steal our

better in the Doom movie. He seems a lot more like a reluctant hero than
Arnold ever will. If you read the text between episodes in Doom, a reluctant
hero is what the game is all about. Just when you think it is over, it begins
again. Great angle for a sequel too.

Bruce Willis would do the best job playing the part. Just imagine him

Wait, wasn't that the plot to Independance Day? Seriously though, the
single man versus an army has been done so many times (Rambo, Commando,
Hard Target, Under Seige, Die Hard, etc. into infinity....) that I don't
think anyone would notice. If you would like to see a decent account of
how the Doom movie might play out, read the first Doom novel, Knee Deep In

TRUE. The arch-vile is by far the best monster that id designed so far.
I really miss it in Quake. Please, someone make a QuakeC patch for a

It HAS to be in the DOOM movie!
Yeah, why no real DooM monsters? If SFX dudes can make us believe we
are watching velociraptors in kitchens, why can't they make a big fat
cyberdemon and an arch vile, and a herd of revenants. Some stampeding
spectres would be nice (like Predator!) and there has to be the Icon

Right on, dude. Use the same technology they used for those
"gallimimus"dinos for the demons(Both walk the same way, though the
demon's more of a powerwalk than running), use the tech of T.Rex to make
ol' cybiehead. In fact, the first time I heard the Doom movie rumor, I
envisioned a scene for it. I can just imagine the camera 20 feet
above the ground, desert scene, a Cyberdemon stomping in from the right,
head and shoulders in view, stopping, then swinging around to the right to
face away from the camera while lifting his left missile arm and roaring,
then launching the trademark 3 missiles at 2 people running like mad in
the distance.
Then the camera cuts to where the 2 guys are, they're running like mad,
praying that those missiles arent guided, simultaneously wondering how
big the detonation will be, then they hit the deck, 3 missile woosh by
them with that sound in those old war movies, and exploding beyond them
with a deafening roar. Then they jump out, and fire a couple of shotgun
blasts in his direction, and no effect, so they switch to the rocket
launcher(it would be best if they use the one Arnie had in T2, the one
with the little "D"cell rockets)...
Then then the camera cuts back to the cyberdemon, you can see his face,
and how he's getting Pissed that he missed...
Cant wait till this movie comes out. :-)
Wait, more ideas! The missile injure an Archie vile(Who was in the middle
of cooking up an Arch-Deluxe :-D)... then the 2 marines see flames
flikering under the cyberdemon's hoofs... they turn around and see a little
magic act being put on behind them...
Rolling-on-the-floor-laughing-out-loud....
You know guys, after listening to this whole discussion about the movie,
and the subsequent mention of Hughie, I thought of one problem (gasp!)
with a DOOM movie--what about the necessary chick?

What? The Arch Vile is sorely missed in Quake? WHAT?! What the Hell
is the shambler then? He does exactly the same, just looks different.

Kate Moss as a Revanant....;)

Oskar has been practicing the arms flapping thing.
After my most recent post that had that same question (in a different
form), I found out that it means:
Rolling on the floor laughing out loud.
Pretty weird what these guys can come up with huh?
Oh well.
This would have to be a fully animated head, which talks. :-)

Wow. I had heard that Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, and Bruce Campbell
would all star in Doom.
(M. Biehn - Hicks from Aliens, Bill Paxton - Hudson from Aliens,
Bruce Campbell - well, everyone knows Bruce)

He isn't as scary, hurts less, takes more damage, and DOESN'T WAKE UP
THE DEAD.

Excuse me? Have you seen the Shambler cast "ignite" spells or raise dead
monsters?? I haven't!

There could be a few from the story that sets the scene for the movie tho.
I'm sure there would be some intro about how UAE screwed up. Half the
movie may deal with this, with the rest just having the protag.'s klll one
of each monster. U know how they do.
Oops, sorry there. Forgot that the Arch Vile could perform necromantic
powers. I still reckon the Shambler is cool, though.

A year or so ago, Jay Wilbur did an interview with PC Gamer where this
point was discussed. At the time, it was definitely on the cards that
there would be a 'romantic interest' in the film, a survivor from the
initial attack.

So what about Roseanne as a Mancabus?

No, No, No, Hollywood couldn't have a movie without a chick! It just
isn't possible.
Maybe they should just do the Duke Nuk'em movie instead :-)

I like him too, but the arch-vile is cooler...

Oh definately. Doom the Movie is going to be a cult classic. If it
takes itself seriously, it will go straight to the fifty cent bin at the
video store... Heck, it will go straight to the Misc bin at the local
Goodwill.
Woody Allen anyone?

"Who is John Galt?" is the easy one.
"Who hired Craig Livingstone?" is the hard one.

Yes, they're pretty pituful.. I hope the movie has a new script.. The
book is practically like "So, I walked down a hallway and killed some
more stuff.. Then I blew up some things and found a rocket launcher"..
It's not that bad, but it's close.. They shouldn't have tried to follow
the game so closely. :O

look like a Doom episode.

I bet there will be a scene where they magically find a bed/bunk

How 'bout computer Generated mosters? I mean, trying to create a robotic
(or even a guy in a costume!!) Cyberdemon would look soooo lame. I think
that CGI might actually do that game justice... and hey, they looked great
in flicks like Jurassic Park, etc.. plus, they are relatively cheap to
make (or so I'm told...)
I could see a CG Arch-Vile sprinting after arnold, who is desperately
trying to reload a postol (or whatever) to get rid of the baddie...
Somethings to keep out of the game might be the Arch-vile's resurections,
which would look cheesy!!, and maybe the the BGF, which would look pretty
silly...

WhatI think would be funny would be arnie as a marine (not a main
character: just a cameo). With blonde hair, a red shirt and a gun.

That's why Doom is a 1st-person perspective game, and not a 3rd-person
perspective .avi file :)
