Hi folks,

recently I experienced the fault "autochk not found" during
XP-booting. Could not imagine why this should not work. After crashes
normally the chkdsk should repair the filesystem faults which might
occure - but in my system the autochk program could not be found.

Searched through the newsgroups and found out that many people
experienced the same problem.

But within my system like all others the entry in the registry looked
fine.
(localmachine/system/currentcontrolset/control/sessionmanager).

Looking more exactly showed me the solution of the problem - instead
of
"autocheck autochk *" the entry was "autocheck autochk*" - a space
missing between autochk and the * - since the change everything works
fine again - after "unpredictable reboots" the chkdsk command is
running via autochk for dirty-flaged partitions - like it should be.

I also found out, that an XP-Tuning-Tool called WinExpert was
responsible for that failure - which might cause severe
filesystem-errors after a while, when not fixed.

Hope this helps!

Andy
