So every so often I will look back at my phone and its off, im not sure what
triggers this, sometimes it seems that when I am outside and its really hot
it might happen or when its in my pockets and I assume it gets warm it
happens, but I have also seen it happen on the confort of my home with AC
on.
Has this happen to anyone else?
I lock my keypad always so the off switch shouldnt work if pushed
accidentally.
Also the batery and all that stuff seems to be in place, and the phone comes
back home without any problems.

What might cause the problems:

- Software failure
- Heat. Very high or low temperatures causes loss of battery power. High
temperatures might also damage your battery.

which kind of SIM card do you have, 5V or 3Volts? it could be a problem, and
I have some bad experience about it ( honestly, not with 3650). check it out
with some newer card ( if you already don't have one). some phones simply
refuse to work properly with 5V SIM cards.

New (fairly recent) cards should be 3v, no?

now that you mention that, when I was about to buy te 3650, I looked on ebay
and the guy I was gonna buy from asked me when I signed up for tmobile and
then he told me my sim card was not compatible. To avoid any trouble I went
ahead and ordered from tmobile directly, plus it came out cheaper than ebay.

What version? (*#0000#)

several people have reported a similar problem with version 2.54. guess it's
just a software bug :-(

that is correct. but, there are still a lot older cards around, and nobody
will tell you how it could be a problem with the newest phones. many of them
are just not compatible with 5V SIMs, and people get angry at the phone with
no reason. Ok, in many cases phones are just 'bugy' but not always....

Interesting. I just got a 3650 and have had hells problems getting WAP and
GPRS to work. In the end, after a week of talking to O2 they decided that my
SIM card (4+ years old) would not support the new features. At this they
sent me a new SIM and it only took them 3 days to turn the bugger on!!!

Anyhow, the old card is clearly stamped 3v, whereas the new card is stamped
32k. So what's the deal here?

Phil Martin.

Indeed, I have v2.54 and this problem as well. I called nokia this
morning to see whether they have any advice or offer any recourse.
As expected they cannot confirm anything useful, but they say they
will downgrade the firmware if you specifically request it.

There is apparently a policy that any phone that's been owned less
than six months must be sent to the central service center for matters
like this. I'm not sending my phone away for days on the hope that
a downgrade will solve more problems than it introduces, but once I've
had the phone six months and can have it flashed locally, I'll try it.
Or perhaps, much more happily, v2.54 will be superseded.

huh, how many phonebook entries did you have in the old card? I have, as
well as many of my friends, problems with various Nokias, Ericssons etc.
with a SIMs which support only 120 memory places. the problems were gone
with a new cards with 255 entries. and NOBODY don't know nothing about it
( the salesmans even took the phones back to repair with no results of
course!). still, there are faulty phones, but.......

CS,

I have the exact same version of firmware.. and the exact same problem
with my phone.

Can you tell me all what programs you have installed on it too?

I have tried calling up Nokia and reporting it.. but they claim
they've never heard of this problem. You are the 3rd person I've
heard with this problem now.

I would like to compare notes with the two of you and make sure it is
not a program that we installed conflicting with our firmware version.

thanks,
Gail

Mine does it too, but not very often.

I've had the phone since March, and I think it's done it 3 times. Once was
when I was chucked in a fountain (pissed), so I wasn't surprised to find it
switched off !! Came back to life OK when I switched it on.

I have v2.50 firmware

Nothing like as bad as my previous 6310i (once a week) or 6210 (every day),
but I suspect these models suffer from external battery / sloppy connection
issues.

Any idea what is ne w9better ?) in v2.54 over 2.50 ?

Cheers

DA

Mine goes off about 1-3 times per week (depending on how many times I
manually reset the phone). I think the longer I let it sit without
rebooting.. the more likely it will want to turn itself off.

I would like to know the frequency of this with other ppl.

all the best,
Gail
