The purpose of *test* newsgroups is to allow users to test
their news software and servers without annoying others.
Thank You

..just noticed the polarity between Boomer's X-Face and the original
poster's. Kind of a Yin and Yang thang.
BTW, can a beta version of a freeware program be considered for
pricelessware...or at least nominated? This newsreader I'm using has alot
of potential [40tude Dialog].

Some of us don't have that luxury :-( , so I'm keeping it short.
Sorry for any interruption.

Joachim, how stable/feature-filled is the newest beta? Is it usable?

Joachim! My fault...it was YOUR xface that I was referencing! Cool skull
by the way.
Off to work on my xface...which I'm sure will be an improvement on the
*real* thing..heh, heh.

Joachim, we meet again!
WinFace: Windows GUI for compface library
http://www.xs4all.nl/~walterln/winface/
It meets the 'Boomer Seal of Approval', measuring in at only 17.3kb! (and
we thought all girls liked 'em big ;)

For those who can't see them or don't know what they are:
An X-Face is a black-and-white 48x48 image. Compressed into readable text
that are sent along with the headers of an e-mail message or a Usenet post.
Some of "better" newsreaders can display these images (like the freeware
X-news, Gravity or 40tude Dialog). It's a bit like a visual signature.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to give it a try then.

Hello Joachim,
I have just downloaded and tested 40tude Dialog.
The software looks nice.
I have some questions concerning it:
[1] Licence - The readme.txt file of 40tude Dialog says:
"This version expires on October 31st, 2003."
Is this expiration due to a 'beta' or to an 'evaluation' period ?
[2] Is the message view, is it possible not to have to double-click to
see the post's body ?
[3] Is there a way to have a 'Win9x' GUI theme instead of the WinXP one ?
Thanks in advance,
Antoine
Because if it is too buggy then it is not quite ready for general
consumption... it depends on how good the Beta is. I wanted to nominate
Phoenix Roundabout, the mail client, but it currently has too many bugs
that outweigh its novelty.

I'm answering myself and found this thread on news.software.readers.
Till now, the 'simple click body reading' feature seems not to available.

I'll just add a small note to this. If you go to "General
settings->View->Menu and button styles" you get the choice of Standard,
XP-Stylish, Stripes or System decides.

Exiddor.
Hi Spacey -
Anyone can nominate programs. If there are objections to inclusion, there
are plenty of opportunities to voice them. If a program is really buggy, I
doubt that it would get the support needed.

But be aware that *test* newsgroups are happy hunting grounds for collecting

The same can be said about this group. Munged addresses should
be used all the time preferably.
