Does anyone have any pics of the Hi-Lift mounted on their Jeep with
either of the two mounting kits that Hi-Lift offers. I could probably
rig something myself, but I am feeling a little lazy about this. I have
a Manik brush guard and stock bumper on the front and a stock bumper on
the back.

TIA,

Jay

No pictures at this point, how about a description.... At the rear fender
wells, up against the tail gate. I drilled a single hole (each side) spaced
to match holes in the jack. Stuck a ~8" X 1/2" bolt up through each fender
well, used washers and nuts. Then used a couple more nuts to space the jack
up to the right height evenly. With some more washers (or spacers) and wing
nuts my jack is fastened down across the back. I added some stiff, coarse
foam between the jack and fender wells to prevent rattle. With the jack
being out of the weather, it's much easier to use (no rusting).

That's how I mounted mine as well. Cost me a couple bucks for bolts,
washers and wingnuts. I like the fact that it stays out of the weather as
well (while I have the soft top on anyway).

Let me know if you want pictures, I can take a few this weekend and post
them to my site.

I'll go one better. I've seen this method of hi-lift mount a few times and I
think this is the source:
http://bbb.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=000230

The Yzermount. It's what I use.

I have mine just laying across the fender wells in the back. I plan on doing
the drilling and mounting it there.

I bet that bounces around allot! FYI: For most organized rides everything
has to be fastened down.

what it looks like go go http://mpjai.tripod.com and click on the pictures for

Tried that yesterday -- cheap, easy, works just fine.
I had a bicycle 'u' lock laying around that fit perfectly; but it
occurred to me that someone hell-bent on stealing could still take the
climber (can't think of the right name of that part). A padlock will
fix that easy enough.

Stop by my site <http://www.saturdaybang.com/jeep> and specifically to
this page <http://www.saturdaybang.com/jeep/2002_02_01_archive.php3> for
details of my version. I made two brackets that hold it to the fender
wells right behind the back seat. Out of the way, doesn't take much
space, easy to get to and doesn't get covered with grime from riding in
front on the bumper.

Dan

Hi Billy,
Looks like Dan, is calling for the images from his home computer at
65.25.115.125 from his web host at 216.71.22.211 too bad, it makes it so
slow, and right now he's got his computer turn off, making it impossible
for us to see the pictures.

Nicely done.. I like that. You've been bookmarked.

I have a YJ, but I thought the AMC Jeep logo at the top of the page was
quite tasteful. Suppose there isn't a DAMN thing DC can say about that,
huh? :-)

Thanks, I've enjoyed keeping the page up, I've received several comments from
people all over the place who have benefitted from it. I got a lot of good
info from pages like mine while I was doing the rebuild and figured I would
pay the community back with my one contribution.

I thought twice about putting the logo there and came to the same conclusion.
It's old enough and I'm a small enough fish that they wouldn't notice or
even care.

from what I've read here, it seems DC doesn't really care how small a fish
you are, they'll still attack. The point is that your rig has NOTHING to do
with DC, was built before they ever considered purchasing the line, and
you've given credit (in logo and all!) to the original company. No way your
site could be confused with an official DC site.

L brackets, a couple bolts, washers and a couple wing nuts. Damn I like
that!

As long as your site isn't a money-making commercial venture with sponsors and
advertisements paying you, I think you'll be OK.
