Using P4B533-E board with Win 98 SE. Am trying to install the USB 2.0
drivers that I downloaded from the Asus website. Have tried various ways to
install, but always results in having the yellow circle with the exclimation
point in Device Manager. Asus install instructions (one readme.doc file one
"releasenotes" file) seem contradictory. Any suggestions on how to get these
drivers to install correctly?
Thanks

Cindy, did you install all the service packs/updates for 98 SE from MS's
website via Windows Update? You might want to try that first before
installing the drivers.

So, you tried a file like this ?

I did a search in Google, and there was mention of Intel also
distributing the ICH4 Win98se USB2 (Orangeware) driver.

Intel claims to have the same file on their web site, but the size
of the setup.exe is not exactly the same. Go to this page and
get the USB 2.0 for Win98se driver dated 29 Jan 2003. The release
note on the Intel page appears to be the same, just in PDF format.

ftp://download.intel.com/design/motherbd/rg/setup.exe (USB2, ICH4, 1.0.3)
ftp://download.intel.com/design/motherbd/rg/releasenote.pdf (for 1.0.3)

I don't have this board, so cannot test the difference between the
two versions for you.

Good luck,
Paul

Thanks for reply...
Will try the downloads from Intel...the Orangeware drivers that I did try
are the ones I got from Asus...same as the link you sent. Looks like
Intel's are more recent...but were not offered at Asus for some reason.

Thanks Steve...they were already installed. I think it is XP that installs
USB 2.0 drivers when you update to SP1...but Win 98SE doesn't offer that.

I have the same board. Here's a link from a post I saw on a newsgroup about
USB2 drivers for Win98SE for this board. I haven't tried them myself.
