The Italeri kit is head and shoulders above the rest.

I have the Hasegawa kit - the detail is fine raised all over, around the nose
area, wing tips and landing gear nacelles the fit is a *little* dodgy. (doesnt
worry me, i like modelling :) A pretty full weapon complement though, and plenty
of decals.

The do say the Italeri one is better.

Which is the best? That is entirely up to you, your skills, and how much
effort you want to put into it. The best can be the old Matchbox prototype,
Monogram pre-production up to the current Italeri kit. Any 1/72 A-10 kit
will give you a good model.

But the best 1/72nd Hawg for a production A/C is Italeri's. . . last jet
they did really well to be honest.

In 1/72 scale, it's the Italeri kit, hands down.

Both Special Hobbies and Williams Brothers make one. I've built
both. Both have major fit problems and major inaccuracies - wing
dihedral, cowling sizes, trim tabs, cockpit windows ...etc. Which
one to go with? It's a toss up. Cabin windows are a toss up as this
plane went through several modifications prior to the final flight.
For the configuration of the final flight go to the Tighar web site
that has accurate plans of the final configuration, although even
these plans don't show the thin black line from the left front of the
engine to the back of the wing inboard of the engines (at least the
starboard one anyway) that is evident in the photographs taken at
Lae. In a prior posting I lamented about not having a
state-of-the-art kit of the aircraft. I would even settle for having
at least a state-of-the-art 1960s kit of this aircraft! Which one to
build? It's a toss up. The cockpit windows are more accurate on the
special hobbies kit and it does not haved raised rivets like the
Williams Brothers kit. You will have some work cut out for you,
especially if you want to use SNJ metalizer which is fantastic stuff,
but shows off even minor flaws.
