Hi,

My computer is running on Windows 98( 1st edition). I have
installed IE 6 but there seems to be a problem. When i
enter a website and click on links shown on the website,
the browser doesn't respond. It only respond when i type
in the address in the URL space. I have clicked on all
links on countless websites but all don't work. Is there
any way to solve the problem?

Warmest regards,

Anderson

Hi Anderson - You may need to re-associate URL:Hypertext Protocol with IE.
See here: http://www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx. If that doesn't fix it then:

Go to Start|Run and enter "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" (without the quotes). After
you get a Success message, re-boot. If that doesn't work, then check out
the following article and do the additional steps outlined there that you
haven't already tried:

You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You

Hi Jim,

i still couldn't solve the problem...
it seems that when i do the things told on the Microsoft
website...one of the actions don't work...
"regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll" gave an error msg : "LoadLibrary
(Actxprxy.dll)failed. GetLastError returns 0x00000485"
wat should i do now?

Warmest regards,

Anderson

Hi Anderson - This normally indicates that that file is either missing or
damaged. It can also under certain circumstances mean that one of the files
upon which the .dll you're trying to register is dependent is missing or
damaged (although that's not as likely in this case.) I would try a repair
of IE6 first (Add-Remove Programs, Select IE6, then select Repair). If that
doesn't fix it (that is, you get the same message when you try to register
this .dll), then I would try doing a re-install of IE6. Go to
Windows\Windows Update Setup Files and double click on ie6setup.exe and
select Reinstall All Components. After you do the re-install, if necessary,
be sure that you install 818529, 330994, and 822925 in that order re-booting
between each.

Hi Anderson - Then look in Program Files|Internet Explorer and see if you
find a copy there.

Under the Program Files directory you mean?
FWIW in XP it's called "Internet Explorer".

It seems to be stored all over the place depending on your OS.
I don't have OP's OS. I'd suggest a Win-F file find.
