OEM\VAR versions of any Windows 98 release

-If you have an OEM supplied Win98 version, it is best you get support
directly from them. There are too many possible variables with OEM
CDs to effectively get help from these NewsGroups. Your OEM is
responsible for product support - Not MS! -
- NOT available to the general public, so should NOT be a
consideration for anyone considering an upgrade

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Satisfy Microsoft Compliance Check for all Windows98
retail versions EXCEPT Windows 98 SE "Updates" & SP1,
you need....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A.) The entire Windows 3.xx floppy diskette set
(Upgrade, Full or similar System Recovery versions)

B.) The entire Windows 9x floppy diskette set or CD-Rom
(Upgrade, Full or Similar System Recovery versions)

C.) A currently installed Windows 3.xx or Windows 9x OS *

* If your computer came with a Windows 9x Companion CD ROM that
did not include SETUP.EXE or your System Recovery CD is unique in
some way (...like if it is compressed or just a zip file) you might not have
the choice to use upgrade to install into a clean system. Relying on this
type of cd to pass compliance after you've wiped the old OS may leave
you with NO way to install Win98 at all if setup can't find the files needed
to pass the check.

Check with the vendor who supplied you with the original CD to be safe.
