Once RC1 (or any of the other RC's) become available to the testers, will
they be made available to MSDN subscribers as well? I assume it would be
Universal subscriptions as before, but in any case, I was just wondering.

They are already available.

We have posted the final beta of VS.NET 2003 Enterprise Architect to the
site for Universal level subscribers. Currently, this is the only version
of the final beta available to us. In my rollout plans, I see the next
version to be posted is the final RTM release, with no RCs in the works.

What is the expected date for it to go gold?
Also will the RTM be the same as the gold version?

Only 10% of the beta testers got the RC1 so it is a limited number of
testers. The final version will be released with .NET Server which should be
in April 2003.

Andy,

I am one of probably many Professional level MSDN subscribers who is
very anxious to get started on Pocket PC 2002 + .NET Compact Framework
development, but who weren't lucky enough to get the latest beta of
the CF extensions to Visual Studio 2002.

I'm sure that, given their determined push on .NET, that Microsoft
wants to see as much development happening on this platform as
possible. With the CF in released state, and VS2003 almost there, you
would think they would want to get this into as many hands as
possible. April is a long way off when we would have liked to have
started on this several months ago.

What's the purpose of releasing CF and the 'Go Live' license if no one
can develop for it?

Is there anything that can be done to work with us on this? Can we
either get the last beta of the CF extensions for VS2002, or a
professional (or even a time limited Enterprise) version of the VS2003
beta?

Thanks for your consideration.

I'm actually surprised that MS doesn't want to have Pro versions of VS.Net
2003 in the test cycle as well. Seems like a they might be asking for
trouble by only testing the Ent Arc version of it. Or maybe they are
testing Pro but it just hasn't made it to MSDN?

yeah, we are holding up a project waiting for this as well.
i still don't understand how you can release the most advanced
version (Architect), but have trouble posting a Professional
or Enterprise version. Hopefully we'll get this at least 4 weeks
before the public release date, which means late Feb or
early March if we are lucky.

Sorry for the delay in answering this one - missed it on my list of
newsgroup responses. As it is now, VS.NET Ent Arch Final Beta is the only
version that the product group has handed off to us to post on MSDN
Subscriber Downloads. The final versions are all slated to RTM on 2/28, and
my intention is to have the bits available for all subscribers as soon as
possible after this date. Generally, it takes a bit of time to prepare and
replicate worldwide that much content (upwards of 20 GB, with the Library
and Windows Server 2003).

I need to make a quick disclaimer here: The release date that I mentioned
IS NOT OFFICIAL. It was my own planning date for preparing the download
servers for a spike in download requests, and is not the officially stated
date by Microsoft. I realized (after this was pointed out to me) that I had
stated this poorly, and so I wanted to clarify that this is not an official
date - it's just something that I have written on my whiteboard to help me
get the system ready. No date has been actually announced, my original
intention was just to say that we will be posting the Enterprise Developer
and Professional versions only in the released versions.

Sorry for any confusion,
