I have this error on both, my win2k and XP - systems and
have not found any information about that type of error.
I already tried to
- alter security settings
- reapir browser
- install SP3 on win2k again
- install and deinstall SP1 for IE 6
- install and deinstall April 2003 cummulative patch for IE
No success.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Oli
We are still investigating this error, but it appears to be the result of
the software/driver download becoming corrupt in some way. This could be
due to a poor Internet connection at the time the download was processed as
we see in log files where the error will occur, but at a later date the
failed download will be successful.
It may also have to do with corrupt/partial files in the C:\WUTemp folder.
This exception is thrown when the file image of an executable program is
invalid.
Recommendation:
Try clearing out the C:\WUTemp folder to make sure there are no
corrupt/partial files.
The log file will show the URL of the download that failed, so you can try
connecting directly to the URL for the download and see if you can get it
that way. For driver .CAB files, you will need to extract the contents to a
folder, then right-click on the .INF file and select the Install option to
install the driver, or they can manually update the driver using Device
Manager. For updates, all you need to do is to double-click on them to
start the install.
