For some reason every time I login to hotmail via IE6 a
page comes up and says that I'm not using a compatible or
recognised version of explorer.
I have downloaded IE6 and reinstalled it but the problem
persists.
Any ideas?

One of the main causes of this issue is when you have 3rd party programs
installed such as Norton Internet Security or Zone Alarm installed. For
your privacy, some of these applications will attempt to mask the User Agent
string that is sent to websites to identify which browser you are running.
Sites such as Hotmail use this information to display a version of the page
optimized for your browser. If this data is masked, Hotmail will present
you with this error. If you have any such software installed, please
temporarily disable it, close and restart Internet Explorer, then check to
see if the issue still occurs. Hope this helps.
