Drew70 posted a topic on TMF bearing the subject title.
It quickly broke down to TMF vs. AMT and then some.
It's a good (but very LONG thread with 90+ replies.
Poke yer head over there and grab a refreshment of chiose....
It's a good-un'.

do here in AMT! <g>...

LOL Bob, it was an entertaining thread for about the first 4 pages.
After that, I don't have a clue how the AMT is even involved or is ever
mentioned again?

That's the whole "topic".
How "Off-Topic" a moderated forum can stray.
If you ask me, it was off from the beginning.

What really got me was the "flame bait" posted by something named "dodger"
in response to Drew70. After trying to be civil to him, Drew 'tried' to
hammer him some (see: defend himself), and it was promptly deleted by the
Big Mod Himself (Myriads), telling them to 'take it outside'. Flame "bait"
being as bad as a flame on its own. When I saw what was posted by dodger
(it's still up) to be nothing but U.S.D.A. Prime Flame Bait.

I called him on it, but just got a smart-ass reply and a "we're doing the
best we can" response.

I expected better from the Tzar himself, but...whatever.

Some very good points were raised by Drew and Sunrise.

But I have yet to attain my "second Level Red Feather" Merit Badge.
So what the hell do I know?!

Thanks Chris for the words and for coming to my defense. I would urge you
though to not judge the TMF'ers too harshly. They are good people over
there for the most part, and like you say, not so different from us. I've
always found Myriads to be a very fair and impartial individual, always
calm, and refusing to posture. He takes no joy in moderating, but has taken
on the job and does it to the best of his abilities. I don't fault him,
even for deleting my post, for it was clearly a breach of protocol there.
Dodger (not to be confused with the ever cool Dodger.uk of whom I posted a
couple of clips) is a slippery little shit who has learned how to flame,
while keeping just under the threshold of unacceptable discourse. I made a
mistake in responding to him the way I did, but trust me, that won't happen
again. :)

I'm afraid I'm not very popular over there, not that such popularity matters
to me. They staunchly defend their censorship policy, sometimes rather
emotionally. My conjecture that it would be better off as an unmoderated
forum met with considerable opposition and posturing, but also with some
very calm and reasonable rebuttals as well. All in all, a good thread in my
opinion.

LOL, but last year after having about a dozen accounts at TMF , posts
were being deleted, censored and accounts disabled. I readily admit my
flaming was the reason and mods/Tsar were justified. I decided to see
what it would take to get totally banned/disabled by the Tsar. So I did
and he did LOL. Once again thanks for the invite, obviously I agree with
D70. I can still observe, but have effectively been muzzled. Oh well not
a thang LOL

I wouldn't say that, Drew, people may can have differing opinions and
still like and respect one another. Most folks I know think you're
intelligent and a good guy, and look forward to seeing you at the next
NEST :-)

All TMF is, is one big "popularity contest". If you are with "the in
crowd" then you do can do what you want and can do no wrong.

If you're on the outside, then you're forced to worship the mods and
their little "circle of power" friends.

People can become so incredibly brave, hiding behind the security of a
computer screen.

i tell it like it is all the time there.
i've had 2 of my posts deleted, big deal.
2 mods i fought with were forced to resign.
so i'd say no, no one has to worship anyone. i mouth off when ever i feel like
it, so can anyone else! is there a clique? sure, just like everywhere else in
life! but, hey, i never let that worry me.

I disagree, Steve. I think, as a Mod I should be revered and worshipped
and, and lots of cool stuff bestowed on me cause I'm a mod and it's like so
cool you can't even believe it. We have our own clubhouse and we talk about
everybody and we just sit up all night and make up rules and decide who to
ban and everything.
Because we all know that Tickling is like the only thing in the world that
there is to talk about and be cool about and we mods are something like
EXPERTS!!!!!
We are fascists and Republicans and hate everybody because NO ONE is as cool
as we are. WE'RE MODS. THE FEW. THE BRAVE. THE PROUD!!!!!

i couldnt agree with you more my friend,,,the internet gives little people big
balls,,,i had to get used to taking shit from pin heads,, myself being 6-4 220
and very able to mix things up, it really sucks when some 5 foot tall and a
buck twenty five soaking wet gives you a headache,, you know in real life they
would cringe in fear in your presence,, but the internet has made everyone 8
feet tall.....

I like Max and don't generally regard him as one of the power-tripping
Mods. However, this type of sarcastic response is typical of how the
TMFers tend to deal with any criticism of them or their sacred Forum.
So be it! They are apparently incapable of recognizing or
acknowledging their lack of tolerance for dissenting opinions, so I
will continue to post such dissenting opinions here, out of reach of
the censors.

Actually, historically speaking, that's not 100 percent accurate.
Facism is ultra-national, the government is perfect, etc. Also,
under Mousolinni's Italy, I don't recall anyone being allowed to own
guns do you? Not exactly in the playbook of most Republicans. Just
like the Nazi's were big government leftists.

I realize newsgroups like this have a lefward tilt. But must there be
such historical ignorance?

to further add to your example,, it was at the very start of world war 2 when
they passes laws against gun ownership the germans said it was because of the
rising crime statistics at that time,, they took everyones guns while assuring
them they would be able to get them back,, next thing you know, millions are
led to the slaughter,,, they had to go like sheep! with nothing to protect
themselves with,,,alot of people today dont know about that,, they always say "
gee,, why diddnt they fight? " well, because they were facing machine guns
and attack dogs with nothing to fight with....
