Just like some other posters I discovered that the "Remote
Desktop Sharing" feature of Netmeeting was disabled in my
XPe build. Netmeeting itself worked fine.
I found a post that created a connection to the Headless
Support Update (Q331042) QFE and removed it from my
component database.
Then, after adding the original (not-Q331042-hotfixed)
Netmeeting component and rebuilding the image, "Remote
Desktop Sharing" was enabled and could be used as expected.
Could "someone" please fix this? Of course there are other
ways to control a headless device, but I doubt that the
Headless Support Update is _supposed_ to disable
Netmeetings "Remote Desktop Sharing" feature.
BTW: This issue has already been adressed 3 months ago
(without any (official) response from MS), so I'm really
looking forward to see some reaction this time.
Disable the following keys in TD or in the SLD then reimport into your DB from within the Virtual Display Driver component:
HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\mnmdd\Enum\0 - REG_SZ - "Root\\LEGACY_MNMDD\\0000"
HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\mnmdd\Enum\Count - REG_DWORD - 1
HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\mnmdd\Enum\NextInstance - REG_DWORD - 1
The issue is that these keys are preventing the mnmdd service from starting properly. With these keys removed, the service will start fine and Remote Sharing should be enabled.

that did the trick!
It was actually very easy, as the QFE for Q331042 is
unpacked to three seperate .sld files (unlike the other
QFEs, that are installed directly to the component DB).
So I just had to open the "VDD" .sld file, disable the
three registry keys, import the .sld files, upgrade the
Netmeeting component, rebuild my image and run the FBA.
Then "Remote Desktop Sharing" was enabled again.
Thank YOU for pointing THIS out, Harsh!
