Hi
I am facing problems while publishing Master projects. I
tried all permutations & the problem I face is that the
subproject info is restricted to the sub-project Project
Name. No taks of sub-project are published meaning when I
try accessing the project using Project Web Access, I can
see all tasks of Master project & the Project Name of the
Sub project.

Why can't I see sub project tasks as well ? The sub-
project is a published Enterprise Project.

You need to update the path of the subproject mannually.

Are all subprojects imported to Server?

Open the master project, remove the previous link to the
subproject file, and specify the correct link to the newly
importedt file.

Maybe my problem is not quite the same. I have several
published projects. Everything is fine with them in PWA.
I want to create a master project of these. In Project, I
inserted each of the individual projects, then published
the master project. Then in PWA, when I click on the
master project, all I see are the subproject names. There
are no further details. I have deleted them and added
them a couple times with no change. Am I missing
something or is this how it is supposed to be? Perhaps
within PWA if you want to see the details you open the
individual projects.

Hi Earl,

I am exactly facing the same problem as you have narrated
& do not see a solution.

I would appreciate if someone can enlighten us on this
subject. When we publish Master projects with subprojects
as published projects imported into the Enterprise, we can
see in PWA only the SubProject Name instead of the entire
published Master project alongwith the Subproject details
as we see in MS Project Pro.

Somebody pl. recommend a solution to this or else atleast
intimate us that this is a problem in Project Server 2002.

Thanks in advance

Bye
Subhen

1) Master Projects are not a recommended construct in Project Server
2) You can't drill down into subprojects from a Project Web Access view,
this can only be done in the Project client
3) Publishing Master projects to the server will double resource workload in
the pool as Project Server doesn't distinguish between a Project and a
Master Project. Both get tallied in all counts.
4) Master Projects are replaced by Project Server views. Project Center
views are the new master projects in this product generation. The only thing
you can't do is display tasks for multiple projects at the same time.
Everything else you get from a master is replaced by Project Server views.
5) Using master projects puts you at risk for assignment duplication as
nothing stands in the way of someone publishing assignments from both a
Master Plan and a sub plan.
6) Don't use Master Projects in Project Server. Create them on the fly when
you absolutely need one and discard it, rather than saving it. Recreate it
when the need arises.
