Anyway, the light stayed on for months. When I took the car to the
dealer for some recall work, I told them to check the ABS problem and
they said it needed a new pump. After I got the car back, I noticed
the ABS brake fluid level was very low (shouldn't they have added
fluid when they checked it out???). I added fluid myself, and the
second time I started the car after adding it, the ABS light stayed
off. About three weeks later, the fluid was low again, and the ABS
light came back on. Again I added fluid, and the same cycle repeated.
I am not seeing any leakage on the ground, but yet the fluid keeps
getting low. If I take it back to the dealer, I'm sure they'll replace
everything whether it needs it or not, and charge me $800+. I guess I
have no choice, but if anyone thinks there might be a solution I can
implement, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Gary
Most other problems require replacement of the modulator & $800 is about
half what you will end up paying. Fortunately, the ABS is independent
of the main brakes on these cars, so if you don't want to pour that much
money into it, it is OK to just unplug the ABS fuse and pretend you
didn't buy the ABS option. The regular brakes will be fully functional.

Unfortunately my son's 95 Accord had the same issue. Pulling
the fuse (it's rather large) will disengage the ABS, but the
ABS light WILL remain lit on the dash. Been there, done
that.

The only thing I can think of is that during installation of the muffler
and/or pipe they banged the rear wheel ABS sensor mount or damaged some
wiring to it. If that was the case though it would have had to be fixed to
prevent a persistent ABS check light.

As someone else suggested that ABS system has been known to leak at the
plugs on the ABS modulator and there is a procedure to reseal them. Check
all around the modualtor for seepage of fluid.
