Let me preface my post by saying that I think the best wrestling game
of all time is "WWF: No Mercy" for the N64.

With that said, and a few hours of playing time under my belt with WWF
RAW 2, here are my thoughts so far:

The BAD
-------

1) There is a HUGE bug in season mode (From the few games I have
played - I hop and pray I am wrong). The bug occurs if you "watch"
another match (instead of skipping the match - in season mode). If you
watch another match, it will end in a draw via countout, because the
AI isnt smart enough to go back in the ring. Unless of course, the
match happens to be a "no count out" type of match. This is utterly
lame, and needs to be patched ASAP. I can not for the life of me
figure out how this slipped passed the playtesters. It happened the
very first time I watched a match, and every time I have watched a
match with count-outs.

2) Another Horrible flaw - When you are in "danger" (when your voltage
meter is very low) and the opponent tries to pin you but fails, it
starts another bug. You simply can not get up in time. No matter how
fast you tap, they get up, do a light strike and restart the pin
attempt. It can literally go on forever. This also needs a fix. In
fact, it is so bad as to make the game really not fun.

3) Maybe its just me, but I couldnt figure out how to actually play a
season with my created wrestler. I added him to the roster, but was
unable to select him as my main character because they only gave me 4
screens to choose from and he wasn't on it. I am hoping that this is
just me being unable to find it, and not an inherent flaw in the game.

4) The CAS feels a little clunky compared to No Mercy. It seems like
there were a lot more faces / clothing possibilities in no mercy. One
of the problems (IMHO) is that instead of different clothes, you have
one type of shorts with 20 different colors/textures. I hope there is
alot of stuff to unlock for clothing etc....

5)Maybe its just me again, but the "counter" doesn't feel right. In
"No Mercy" you had a "counter strike" and a "counter grapple" button.
In RAW 2, they are in one button (unless I'm missing something) and it
just doesn't feel quite responsive enough...Its hard to explain but it
doesnt feel right.

The Good
---------

1) The graphics are GREAT.

2) The gameplay feels pretty good, which is a surprise to me because
of how crappy I remember RAW 1 being. The only small gripe I have is
there seem to be slight pauses in the "flow" of some of the moves.
Otherwise, after playing a few matches I really like the gameplay.

3) The CAS (Create a Superstar) is really good. It is hard to compare
anything to "no mercy" in terms of "CAS" but that being said, I still
like the CAS in this game. In some regards, there are more options
(Like having the announcers call your nickname when you enter). There
is a huge selection of custom colors / color palettes. You can import
your own entrance music. You can even make your own trinitron movie
(haven't tried this yet). There is a huge selection of masks, and you
can custom make your own mask with crazy amounts of options. Unless I
am missing something, you have more options for masks than you do
actual faces, which is why I also list the CAS in the "bad" category.
I would like to see a more customizeable face / body engine. And, I
would like (as in NO MERCY) to have all of the clothes and faces be in
one pool, so you can pick from ALL of the clothes for both male and
female stars.

I will try and write some more specifics after another few hours with
this game. If you are on the fence, I might suggest waiting until some
of the above bugs are confirmed or not before buying the game (Bug 1
and 2 - specifically). These are potential "game killers" in my
opinion, and I can't understand how they have made it into the game. I
hope I am just doing something wrong, or missing something, but I am
sure more people will post on this matter very shortly. If it were not
for 1 and 2 in my "bad" section - this could be an all time classic.
What a pity.

Im off to play some more, then I will post some more thoughts.

Unless I am missing something also it's hard as hell to actually beat
someone by pinning them. I was Steiner tonight vs Lesnar and I hit him with
my finisher 4 times in a row and he still kicked out. The game is Fair but
overall there are still a ton of things left incomplete. There is a review
up at IGN that pretty much nails everything on the head. I usually don't go
by reviews but it was pretty good.

Good
------
1. Graphics
2. Creater a Superstar
3. Entrances
4. Fluid Gameplay

Bad
------
1. Where is the Commentary?
2. Voices of Wrestlers?
3. Lip Syncing Cut Scenes are annoying
4. Counter moves are unresponsive
5. Season Mode is buggy and annoying.

That's just a few things in MY opinion. I know it isn't a very deep
review....
Has anyone figured how to pull the belt down quickly in TLC matches. It
sucks just hanging by the rope with a belt there for like 5 minutes then
falling without it. What am I missing???

In my opinion, I'm taken this piece of crap back. I am very dissapointed.
The bug you mentioned about not being able to get up after being pinned is
exactly right. I was brock playing against stacy, thought i'd take it easy
until I got used to it. She beat me because she just kept pinning me and I
could never get up. The biggest factor in a wrestling game for me is the
season mode, so far, i'm not impressed. I don't think I'll be missing this
game.

IGN gave it a 9.1? That's a pretty HUGE score for a wrestling game.

Can I just confirm that there is a Royal Rumble matchup on this game?

There is, I've watched videos (from ign) and I believe you can have up to 6
wrestlers in the ring at once.

What's the deal on the control?
Do you have to use the D-pad to move your character around? Or can you use the
analog?
Thanks,
-L

analogue will make them run while the D-pad is used to walk...... I don't
even own the game.

You can use the D-Pad to move around (walk) or also run by double
tapping the d-pad in the direction of the run (and then holding it in
that direction).

Sorry for the duplicate post - I goofed...But here goes:

You can use the D-pad for walking or if you want to use the d-pad for
running you can also double tap it in the direction of the run (then
hold it). You can use the stick for running as well.

Yes - The royal rumble is pretty cool. There are even new moves you
can do off of the turnbuckles and ropes that are unique to royal
rumble (I think - I havent seen them in the other matches). For
example, you can pick someone up and and try to force them over the
ropes or turn buckle....if they are really beat up - and you are
strong -- You can do this successfully.
