He currently has several ID's still active on Ebay of "leanna2000",
"-pokey-", "Quake99" and "Invest7". All have 0 feedback's but ebay
only goes back 30 days for history now. So information is skimpy.

they think they can get away with it, and it would appear, so far,
that line of thinking holds true...........case in point........i hate
to say it but just don't deal with anyone a long way away from you,

buy items from Canada and the USA and I send the Money Order first, then
the seller has it in his hand before he sends the item. The seller is
protected and the buyer is protected by the Money Order as they can be
traced. I note on each money order what the money is for, so they can be
traced. Another good idea is register the item or use verification and
then the person receiving the item has to sign for it, and it is traceable.
Please use your noggin when sending items to anyone, no matter where he
lives.
I am a Canadian and the comments here are not justified.

Hey GW, it's a two way street. Perhaps you have been taken by someone in
Canada in the past, but that is no reason to label all of us. I have
conducted many transactions over the internet with fellow hams who I have
never met before. If you would like names I will gladly provide them. I
always give more than enough information how they can get ahold of me in
case of problems, and I have yet to try and "take" anyone. Why would I
bother? What will I accomplish from it? Absolutely nothing. Once I got
taken by a ham in California who traded me his "perfect" TS440 for my Yaesu
FT900, yeah I know!!, only to find the Kenwood had the dreaded VCO problem.
He denied it of course, and I learned a valueable lesson. But I still trust
most of the hams out there. So please don't go labeling all Canadians as
"rip-off artists" . Perhaps you are still sore that both our men's and
women's Olympic hockey teams kicked your ass!!

What really bothers me is that he is getting packages at this
address!!! The Canadian postal system is quite strange. I'm
beginning to suspect that the city is ignored by the postal employees
(kind of like the US system), and the only thing that is valid is the
postal (zip) code. The street address is the same as it has been when
he was heavy into scamming two years ago. The city was Keene back
then. Mr Munroe trys to keep search engines confused by changing the
city. I have to admit he has this scam down quite well. I contacted
him and he seemed like a very friendly "good ol' boy" and even sent me
JPG's of the radio he was wanting to swap. We exchanged several
emails BSing about different subjects, and I finally agreed to take a
chance and send the radio up to him. I was duped by one of the finest
con artists I have ever ran across! What me do search on his name?
He seems like such a nice guy!!! He must be for real. WRONG!!!! This
guy is a complete thief!! Don't trust him!

I've been contacted by several persons who were in the middle of deals
with "Dave" and realize that they have been taken. His email
addresses of Homestea...@yahoo.com and homestea...@yahoo.com
are both now saying "No such user", so apparently he has discontinued
these.
One person was kind enough to send the number of the Peterborough
County OPP (Ontario Provincial Police). They can be reached at
705-742-0401. Please contact them if you've been ripped off!!! Even if
your in the middle of a deal with "Dave", please call them. You won't
receive whatever you have sent for.
Also keep an eye on Ebay or Yahoo auctions for your items. This is
the quickest way for this thief to move the items. Post his auction
ID to this thread if you spot your gear. If you correspond with
anybody with this particular address then post his email address!!!

Repost of old info, but it might help to put it into this thread.
A serious warning about Dave Munroe, Internet scammer, living in
Keene, Ontario, Canada. In addition to Internet and eBay theft, he's
now added mail fraud to the list. He sends letters of payment,
supposedly with cash payments, but there's nothing in the envelope
except the actual letter. A police officer he scammed opened one of
these in front of Postal Employees, mail fraud charges are being
filed.
If you have ordered anything and sent payment to one of these two
addresses, you've been scammed:

He has also used a Peterborough address and several alias names for
eBay auction site bidding, where he "bids up" his own merchandise,
receives payment, and sends nothing. Two people so far have lost over
$100 each on eBay purchases, several others are possible victims. The
eBay site management has been notified of his aliases and activities,
but he uses falsified user information to avoid capture.
17 verified incidents of Internet and eBay auction theft are known so
far, and more possible... we're waiting for email from several more.
This guy advertises for sale or trade of computer, ham radio,
electronic, and camping gear. He NEVER sends his agreed part of
transaction, money or goods, and after the shipment arrives, he never
answers e-mails and the phone number is never answered (used to be a
BBS line he ran).
In August, he has scammed a half-dozen people for hard drives and
modems. In addition, he's recently been advertising Asus motherboards
and a Cyrix mini-tower system in non-forsale newsgroups, since
warnings have been issued in all for-sale areas.
He has used these aliases for email, auction sites, and Internet

If you've been involved in a fraudulent sale with Dave Munroe, please
contact tedblan...@worldnet.att.net or Rick Park at
rick...@earthlink.net . Complaints have been filed with the Canadian
authorities, and various Internet authorities and email providers
