Hi,

Quoted from the following link

http://www.financialexpress.com/news/sanction-jewar-airport-soon-to-fuel-up-growth-maya-to-centre/541155/

on financial express.

"It may be mentioned that the TIAH project had been given a techno-
feasibility approval way back in 2003. However, with the Delhi airport
being handed over to private hands, the GMR group-backed Delhi
International Airport (DIAL) floated the argument that the new airport
would take away a majority of its air traffic.

However, despite the Uttar Pradesh government’s assertions that it
would accept and abide by all the contractual agreements that have
been entered in to by the Centre, the attorney general of India has
told the Centre that setting up a greenfield airport in Greater Noida
on the outskirts of New Delhi would clearly violate the agreement
signed between the GMR group-led consortium upgrading the Capital’s
Indira Gandhi International Airport and the ministry of civil
aviation. This effectively put the proposed Rs 5,000-crore Taj
International Aviation Hub at Jewar in Greater Noida in cold storage."

Doesn't sound very promising.

Before earlier I had read that since the central government allowed a
new airport at Mumbai withen the 150 km radius of the existing one so
the Jewar airport has a perfect chance to see a daylight.

I hope there is some way out .

Regards,
Vivek.

There is a remote possibility of this airport to happen. But don't
count your chicken before they are hatched. Wait for the foundation
stone of the airport to be laid first before we all cheer this news.

This airport news has only kept the RE fire lit so far otherwise this
area would have been long dead.

Take care,
Arnab M

Dear Vivek,
The link you posted contains very old news.
------------------
GoM to decide on Gr Noida airport
BS Reporter / New Delhi January 04, 2008
---------------
This June 2009, this airport project was SHOT-DOWN by the GoM. Just
few days before the YEIDA plot allotment, again we are noticing the
airport news comes to lime light.

I see it as a deliberate attempt on UP Govt. part to fool people into
buying plots in this part of NCR. The timing of the news makes it
suspicious.

Take care,
Arnab M

With regards to GN airport, my view is that it is mayawati pressing
for it so probably she has interests involved.
There is another airport within 150km from IGI in Jhajjar in Haryana,
being persued by congress government (in haryana), so if it has to
happen, then both will happen. Also, if these happen then DIAL will be
liable to be compensated (it does not mean that it cannot happen).
Now it depends how forcefully haryana congress press for it, and what
is the relationship of mayawati with the centre, all other things will
fall in place. Please note that centre recently has asked for further
report on Jevar, meaning it is not shooting it down, only passing time
(possibly for background negotiations to happen).
So I am hopful.

Kind regards
AK
