Hi,

Actually, when installing WinPython, rope and pyflakes are shipped together with Spyder v2.1 because these packages are bundled inside the official Spyder installer (e.g. "spyder-2.1.12.win-amd64.exe"). When you installed Spyder v2.2rc, the previous version was uninstalled properly: rope and pyflakes were uninstalled but they weren't installed again with the new version of Spyder because the source package (e.g. "spyder-2.2.0rc.zip") does *not* include those packages.

I admit that it's tricky but it seemed to be a good idea to include rope and pyflakes in the Windows installer (I can't include those packages in the source package because it's really not a good practice for OS other than Windows) so that Windows users wouldn't have to install anything else to make Spyder works as expected (Windows users are not used to read the README file and install required modules with required versions).

To avoid anyone else having the same troubles as you, one solution could be to install Spyder in WinPython with the source package, not with the Windows installer (and add rope and pyflakes separately). Then, when installing a newer version of Spyder using the source package, rope and pyflakes wouldn't be uninstalled. But, when installing another version of Spyder with the Windows installer, the problem would arise again the next time Spyder is upgraded using a source package...

Cheers,
-Pierre
