Having just spent the weekend putting together lesson materials, I
wanted to list some small features that would make this process much
easier and are hopefully low hanging fruit.
1) Links at the end of a lesson that let you easily a) return to the
page on which you originally found the lesson or b) asking if you want
to re-take the lesson.
2) Ability to drag audio and text elements around the edit page just as
picture elements can already be dragged around. Perhaps we could have a
little movement handle in the corner of all the grid squares like the
re-size window decoration in most desktop window managers.
3) Ability to enter "wrong" information, meaning information that is not
the correct answer for any subsequent question in the choice group, in
picture and phrase choice lessons.
I know we've been leery of implementing 3) in the past because of
concerns that it will fill up the grid with information that is useless
in any other views of that lesson material. However, I've become
convinced that this is one of our cathedral moments. The process of
trying to integrate materials from multiple lessons over the weekend was
different enough in practice from what I had imagined that I worry about
trying to constrain too much how users build lessons.
Especially for things like incorrect answers, which we know are an
important element for teaching a wide range of content, I think the best
approach is to implement the easiest option and see how people actually
use it in their lessons.
What do people think of the list? Are there any other pieces of low
hanging fruit or some bugs/feature requests from the current list
(http://code.ductus.us/query) that are particularly hampering anyone's work?
