Hi Everyone,
WikiEducator has been experimenting with remix options for reusable and portable content. All you need to do is click, copy and paste!
This means that it is now easier for schools and tertiary education institutions to share learning materials from WikiEducator for delivery in their own learning management systems, blogs and websites. The OER Foundation has now implemented a cut-and-paste feature so you don't need to worry about remembering any HTML syntax.
Instructions
In WikiEducator, under the links option in the toolbox (on the left-hand side of your screen) you will find a few options relating to links including iFrame support which is used for embedding WikiEducator content in external sites.
Go to the WikiEducator page you want to embed, click on "links". Choose the iFrame option you would like to embed by clicking on the text. This will automatically highlight the html text you should copy for pasting into your target website. You have the option of embedding the exact revision or the most recent version which will keep up to date with community edits in the wiki.

I wouldn't say the technology of <iframes> is revolutionary (The <iframe> tag has been around for a long time.).
However, the approach of sharing knowledge freely using open content licenses among multiple sites without password access is revolutionary. This will will change the way we learn and teach around the world. A change for the better!
2011 will be a quantum shift year for OER --- we plan to lay the foundations for the "OER University". Learning should be free for all students of the world and this is what the "OER University" aims to achieve. In parallel we will work with forward looking universities, colleges and polytechnics who will provide pathways for informal OER learners to gain formal academic credit. That's revolutionary!

Well -- a few folk have been thinking about these things. Your early ideas on an international qualification framework for OER being a good example. Perhaps the "OER University" this is the vehicle to achieve these objectives.
I think the timing is now better than it was 2 years ago. Slowly formal education institutions are beginning to see the advantages of the OER model and feel less threatened.
Working together we can achieve free learning for all students of the world. The OER Foundation aims to work will all education institutions around the world to achieve these objectives.
I'll post more detail next week on our lists and keep WikiEducators informed of progress.
