.flash does not work in firewatir

Hey guys,
I've just started using firewatir, I commonly use watir on the PC, but
im trying to write some watir for a mac. I normally use irb with
the .flash method to identify objects on the page as im scripting.
However Im finding that the flash is not working. I tried
the .highlight but that too is not working.

However, the objects I have found work when i use the .click method.
For example if you navigate to the google page:

@f ||= FireWatir::Firefox.new()
@f.button(:name,'btnG').click

That works, however;

@f.button(:name,'btnG').flash

does not work as it normaly would on a PC. Can anyone please provide
some assitance with this simple problem
