Hi!
I already got some replies through github about this, but would like to know what people think of the following three additions to the website:
- a definition of what unhosted web apps are:
https://unhosted.org/index-proposal.html
- a list of tools that will come in handy when developing unhosted web apps:
https://unhosted.org/tools/
- opportunities to meet other unhosted web app developers:
https://unhosted.org/events/
This in addition to:
- the unhosted adventures "handbook" for unhosted web app users; right now, all users are still only fearless dogfooders, so
despite the fact that in theory it's aimed at users, most episodes are really quite technical:
https://unhosted.org/adventures/
- a list of unhosted web apps:
https://unhosted.org/apps/
I called the links 'tools', 'apps', 'adventures', and 'events' on the proposed new landing page. i think that covers most of it.
The site is very developer-focused: of these four, only 'apps' is actually aimed also at non-developers, the other three are not.
We could add a list of advantages but i'm sort of already hinting at them in the definition with the "do not send your user data
to their server" phrase. To see the actual details of how this works (architecture diagram and such), I think we are now at a
point where that should be explained per-tool. For instance,
http://nimbusbase.com/ has such a diagram, and
remotestorage.io doesn't but
i think we talked about maybe adding one at some point.
Feedback welcome! I will wait a few days with linking to these new pages, so you can all get a chance to propose improvements.
Cheers,
Michiel
