Docrastinate sunset

Tehehe, the time has come, I’ll sunset an app too.

Docrastinate ( http://docrastinate.com ) was one of the first apps using remoteStorage and I wrote completely from scratch. It came out of the need to solve a very simple problem, and also wanting to write a simple app which would be more than just a proof of concept. At the time I had 3 planning txt files: personal todos, project todos, and something like a calendar / list of events.

This is of course very limiting, and the whole thing was superseded by Litewrite: http://litewrite.net

Now that Gandi.net keeps telling me that docrastinate.com will expire, in ~10 days now, I decided I’ll let that happen and shut the app down.

Now here’s the awesome part: Since Docrastinate is both open source and uses remoteStorage, you can just keep using it! Either at http://jancborchardt.net/docrastinate (which just serves Github pages) or grab the code directly from https://github.com/jancborchardt/docrastinate

If anyone wants the domain, let me know and I will transfer it. I don’t have use for it anymore.

Yeah, I pondered keeping it just because it’s catchy and all, but I don’t really like the word. But I also don’t like how expired domains usually get squatted/parked immediately, so if you want I can transfer it to you. Or anyone else? It’s up for grabs, 9 days left.

I forgot to say thanks for this awesome work. 

I found it pretty inspirational and still use something similar on a daily basis. 

Although simplistic, it is my favourite unhosted app to date!
