...and toothless up front again.....you were lucky you caught Barca in a
poor run of form...Bugs Bunny should have scored instead of hitting the
post.....but of course no-one will admit that Liverpool were actually
lucky...you're out in the next round....

Hi Jasper. Want to learn something about football? We had two balls
hit the post in the first half, and amazing triple chance with the
ball being saved on the line, and some other stuff, too.

Sure, sending Barca out in two matches is just luck. Just luck. Just
like when we won the whole thing in 2005, and just luck like Barca had
when they won it in 2006.

Work ethics. It's also part of playing football. I'm sure Riikjard's
star squad will rediscover that again eventually.

Which is why you're 19 points off the pace in the league - a much better

Well, yes. Have I said anything else? I actually thought United
deserved it - if you defend all game, and score one - and the other
team doesn't, then fair enough. I only blame Liverpool's ineptitude in
front of goal ...

However, if you count the chances Liverpool created against Barca
during the two matches you will see we created the most. So I don't
see Jasper's point about luck at all.

And we went through against last year's winner.

I think Jasper's mightily annoyed as we have just deservedly put the
holders and favourites out, the best team in Europe, the mantle of which
now defaults to LFC.

Exactly. Bunch of hypocrites - which is what I said on Saturday. If United
played like that at home, they'd be slaughtered by the fans and the media -
and rightly so. Liverpool were a disgrace - negative spoilers. What a
boring display that was - they looked like the away team. It was funny
watching the fans biting their nails. No wonder they are 19 points adrift
of the best team in England. In terms of points, they are closer to
Middlesboro than they are to United.

Indeed. You were the best team over the two legs. Barca never looked like
going through. A very good performance by LFC. And while I'm in my (brief)
praising Liverpool mode, I thought your crowd were excellent. When I started
going to United in the 70s we did all that stuff with scarves, flags and
banners and I always thought it was great.

Normal service will be resumed shortly.

So, please share with the group how you would choose the best team in
Europe, since there's this stuff with separate leagues that's kinda
hard to deal with?

Nice one. Good to see not all rival supporters are so biased as to be
blind to a good performance.

what pleases me tho, is that Liverpool can be so far off the pace in the
premiership - 19 points - and not won it in 17 years, blah blah blah, and
they are STILL England's greatest and most successful. We are SO shite, and
we are STILL more successful than any other English club. Pleases me no end
that does.

How do you figure that, then, seeing as Europe is one of the things
Liverpool is doing bloody well?

Ah, so you're actually suggesting a 30-40 game Euro league. In
addition to the Premier League, FA Cup, national games etc. Yeah,
that'd work.

LOL

United might well finish on zero points.

Liverpool would win it at a canter.

Still bitter as ever Steve eh? Cannot bring yourself to admire and say well
done at the holders and best team knocked out.

Gutted aren't you?

I also thought it was great when they showed the Barca fans taking
photos of the Kop when all the scarves & flags were raised. It showed
that even in defeat (over the tie) they appreciated and respected one
of the greatest sights & sounds in football.

Well, that's a stupid idea entirely. I don't want a European super
league at all. How many fans do you think would be able to travel to
Spain, Italy, Germany etc. for the away games all year? It would kill
football.

Muppet.
