Sorry about this as it seems to be dragging the group down and I'm
going to stop posting for good while as some people here become very
aggressive and nasty if you show any disagreement. The whole thing is
becoming ugly and I'm partly responsible as I get involved in these
ding dongs.

Mr Garvey is patently quite bonkers and once I stop posting he will
find somebody else to fall out with as that seems to be his nature.

Paul Garvey has emailed threatening me with some sort of legal
action.

He claims I physically threatened him some time ago when basically he
was so arrogantly rude I offered him the opportunity to say it to me
man to man.

Okay a bit Macho and stupid but he really is to ready with insults and
general rudeness. I place this here as he is a madman and I want
everything open out in public, This is what he has just emailed me.

"I warned you last time, when you issued a verbal threat, that I would
act if you did anything similar. This afternoon, I registered your
details, two posts of threats of physical violence that you've been
silly enough to issue and this potential stalking. If you *ever*
decided to cross the moral boundary and holiday down here with intent
against me, the letter that is held by Jamie will show the intent was
planned.

One more actual threat of physical violence and Jamie sends the letter
on to the police. I can assure you they will pay you a visit.

I can't be clearer. Stick to the science and you'll have no problems.
issue threats, veiled, or otherwise and I will act. I've done it
before with great success, stopping what the police decribed as
"potentially dangerous" staking early on and I'll do it again."

Paul you need to see a therapist of some sort .

The idiot is silly enough to make private emails public. There is no
way he will *ever* try again to threaten me on here, as he has been
silly enough to do *twice* before.

You, Larry, need to think very carefully about your posting in the
future.

So do I, especially when we avoid stupid AGW arguments which are utterly

Personally I enjoy your wicked sense of humour and think you're an asset to
the group, even though we disagree on some things. It would be a pity if
you stopped posting and I wouldn't want to think I'd contributed to that.

You really disappoint me. I had thought you had abandoned your
overbearing nature, at least on this group, and become more of a
logic disciplinarian who would shoot down unwarranted claims, and as
such to be welcomed. There is something to be said for trying to
think the best of people but I now conclude that you don't deserve
such a benign view.
I see no harm in Lawrie (that's Lawrie, not Larry, a cheap shot)
publicising your email. Anyone who can write stuff like that needs to
be exposed. Alan White was another recipient of your nastiness and
left the group as a result. Well done! Your email reveals you to be
a paranoid bully. Do you think that Lawrie is seriously going to go
down to Devon just to bop you on the nose? He would like to, of
course, and so would many others, including me. But it's not going
to happen coz u aint wurf it. That, like Lawrence's post, is of
course absurdly macho but it shows you what quite a number of people
think of you, viz. they want to hit you.
Go away - get treatment for your persecution complex. You may
then be invited to re-engage with the world. When you do, don't
pretend you know more about a subject than you actually do. It really
gets on people's tits!
In the next few days I'll probably get a visit from Surrey
Police. It will go thus:

Cop: Tudor Hughes?
Me: Yes
Cop: We understand you may be part of a conspiracy to shout at Paul
Garvey, to intimidate him with a trombone and possibly even poke him
in the tummy with it.
Me: Well, yeah, sort of.
Cop: We fully understand your point of view but would point out that
the last action is actually an offence and we would strongly advise
you not to do it, sir.
Me: Yeah OK.
Cop: Enjoy the rest of your day, sir.
Me: Do you *have* to say that?
Cop: Yeah, unfortunately we do. Is this your car?

Increasingly, this Newsgroup has become unrecognisable from the one I
first remember discovering over 10 years ago, and we're all the poorer
for that.

Although I've struggled to resist it, I've become thoroughly fed-up
with the raw unpleasantness that some posts to this Group have
contained, of late. They're introverted, boring, narrow-minded,
disrespectful and nasty, and are bloody awful to have to wade through
but they are difficult to avoid as they often pop up in the most
unlikely places. What's worse, they don't add one iota to the sum of
knowledge, nor are they in the spirit of sensible discussion which I
always thought this Group was set-up to promote.

Lawrence, it you stop posting on here, this NG will be the poorer for it
because it takes all types, the Lawrences, the Dawlishes and everyone else
to make a Newsgroup. The thing is, just don't let people get to you. It
they're rude, be big enough to ignore them. If you're in the right,
everyone will see you are and be on your side; if you're wrong, well, you
can't really grumble! We all get really hacked off with flame wars.

The way I see it is Dawlish's arrogance is his undoing and many people
on many newsgroups are totally fed up with him. However, it is (mostly)
a free world and I wouldn't want to see the internet globally censored.
That's what the killfile is for.

I'm fairly amazed that his address and phone number was so easy to find
on Google (sorry but I couldn't resist when I came across his real name
somewhere in this thread!) but I guess he's so brazen that he thinks
he's untouchable.

Many years ago, I was in to amateur radio. There used to be a repeater
up on the Crystal Palace mast in South London, that attracted all sorts
of dross from many miles around.

One day, a twit like Dawlish appeared and rubbed a lot of people up the
wrong way. So much so that some nutter took it upon themselves to petrol
bomb the twits car!!!!

Apparently, the flames went up the side of the house, in to the roof and
burnt the house down!

I wouldn't wish that upon anyone but there are nutters out there and I
think Dawlish really should pull his neck in before he upsets the wrong
person.

By the way Dawlish, is that your website about Trains I came across when
googling "Paul Garvey Dawlish"?

The way I see it Lawrence is as much to blame for this. The stuff he
comes out with regarding AGW is like he is deliberately trying to
provoke Dawlish. Not to mention the nasty ad-hominen political attacks
he has made about climate scientists in the past, or the hypocrisy of
accusing people of "alarmism" then making equally alarmist statements
about the economic consequences of taking action. Yet all this seems to
be fair game because he has a good sense of humour at other times. I'm
tempted to say it is an example of style trumps substance.

BTW I do think Dawlish has gone way OTT and I do not approve of the way
he communicates with others on here. I wonder if this is because he
simply lacks social skills.

There have been many times when I've considered them as bad
as each other but at least Lawerence has the decency to accept
a portion of the blame, some awareness regarding his actions.
Can you imagine Dawlish even admitting that he might have got
a little carried away on occaision?

Talking of twats and oafs, Terry, why don't you stop hiding behind all
these pseudonyms? The only reason I can think of is that you enjoy
inflicting your twattishness and oafishness on as many people as possible.

Yes; manners maketh man. When Lawrence has a bout of hot-headed cooling
he sometimes accepts that he is "partly responsible".

What a gent! I'll bet he puts his hazards on if he parks in an
inconsiderate way too.

I think that has to be the most sensible conclusion anyone has ever
made on this group.

Sadly, I really do believe they think that cyber bullying is something
that doesn't apply to the over 50s and are going to get a shock when
their ISPs produce lists of all their posts from the year dot.

Comments do not look quite so amusing when read out in court by a
barrister, even if the originals did have a ;) after them.

If that's a free consultation, it was grossly over-priced. But now I
know what is wrong with our schools.
Anyone have a list of this person's online names?

Hmmm.. That's what's wrong with me. I'm a vindictive bastard.
I always thought it was:

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that in studies on the
aforementioned “mirror neurons,” women tended to have stronger motor
responses when watching others than men did. One experiment involved
men and women playing games with a partner who was really a lab
assistant. In one group, the men and women enjoyed working together
and playing a game with their partner. Then, while the subjects looked
on, their partners were seemingly subjected to pain. The pain areas in
both the male and female subjects’ brains lit up as they watched their
partners in pain. But in the next group, the partners cheated during
the game with the subjects and played unfairly. This time when the
subjects watched theirs partner in pain, the pain areas of the women’s
brains still lit up in empathy.

But in the men’s brains, it wasn’t the pain areas that lit up, it was
the pleasure areas.
:~D

The men got a kick out of seeing the cheater get their comeuppance.
The men seemed to be more focused on fairness and justice. Again this
is not likely a matter of socialization; the same result has even been
found in similar studies with male mice.

I have re-read all your posts on this thread, and the only question
that you have asked is:- was Stan Garvey someone from Crossroads?

I'm afraid that I have no idea whether he was on Crossroads or not, so
I can't answer your question however irrelevant it might be.

You didn't ask me if I had any other online names, presumably because
you have not got the guts. You asked anyone here if they had a list of
my online names.

I find this a most sinister development for a couple of reasons;

1, That you expect people on this newsgroup to be compiling a list of
online names for other contributors who may not agree with your views.

2, That you go on the defensive when asked what you would do with such
a list if one came into your possession.

Given that this is one of a number of threads where a group of people
are trying to argue that one person is bullying them, rather than the
other way round - you may wish to reconsider your strategy.
